Q: The label indicates it "must be fully cooked." Is this frozen spinach not safe to consume raw in a smoothie?
A: Hi Liz. Thanks for your interest in our Chopped Spinach. This product must be kept frozen (do not thaw) and cooked thoroughly as indicated on the package before consuming. Thanks for checking with us, and have a great day!

However, temp changes and not talking care of the food safely could make you sick. About your smoothie question: You would have a difficult time breaking down a whole frozen block of spinach for a smoothie in a blender. Please don't do that lol it's hard as a rock. ☞1.Leave it out to defrost and check on it to see if you could break pieces off. Or... ☞2.Defrost BRIEFLY in the microwave using the defrost function. Don't wait until it's streaming hot. I recommend the former. If you use heat, you can add ice (not too much). Once you realize the best way to break it up, I recommend breaking up the entire dense block after you use what you need OR (IMHO) the most efficient way is to bulk blend smoothies with your other ingredients and then freeze it. If anything is left from just the spinach, you should reseal it in pieces FROZEN because you can get sick from leaving it out. I hope that helps.☆

Q: Is the spinach grown in the USA or Mexico?
A: Hi Katie. Thanks for your interest in our Chopped Spinach. Conagra Brands is largely a North American company with most of its preparation facilities in the U.S. While we have preparation facilities in Mexico, Canada, Italy and Argentina, those facilities largely service the international demand for our products. Approximately, 95 percent of Conagra Brands products sold to consumers in the U.S. are prepared in the U.S. Additionally, most of the ingredients that are used in Conagra Brands products are sourced from suppliers in North America. Whether they are based in the U.S. or elsewhere, we are able to ensure consistent quality of our products year round. Thanks again, and have a great day!

Q: Do I need to wash it before cooking it??
A: Hi there - washing is not a necessary step prior to cooking. Our chopped spinach should remain frozen until you're ready to cook thoroughly. Thank you
