My first B&D corded mower ran great for 20 years until the wiring became disconnected. My second B&D corded mower quit after 3 years when the motor brushes wore through and ruined the motor. Hopefully my new (third) B&D corded mower will be as good as my first one. Thank-you, Ben Fries

The motor failed after just 2 years, of course out of warranty. Rear door for bag attachment doesn’t work well and is always coming loose. Looking for a better alternative.

Motor mounts broke because motor is underpowered. Causes torque lock therefore seizing the motor at times. Mounts and plastic bracket broken and motor is cooked.

I’ve had 3 electric lawn mowers in the past so of course I another one. The previous lawn mowers lasted at least 10 yrs, but this new mower only lasted 2 1/2 years. Really disappointed with this. If it has a cut off switch for overheating, I waited 5 hours and still doesn’t start.

DO NOT BUY this mower. The tool library where I volunteer has had SIX of the Mm2000 Type 2 mowers die within two years due to the flawed design. As other reviewers noted, the belt seems to pull the motor off center and it is all downhill from there. the blade stops being able to turn and burns out the motor. The "fix" is to replace the whole motor for $130+. Older B&D mowers last for over 20 years even with hard use at the tool library and can almost always be repaired with a few cheap $10 parts (e.g., new switch, brushes bridge rectifier, blade insulator). Shame on B&D for a badly designed mower that will clog up landfills.

Loved it so much at first that I got a second one for my store property. First one failed after six uses, hardware store replaced it. Second one failed after 7 uses. Both were properly stored and cleaned after each use. They simply shut off if used when temp is over 80. Do not buy these. Something majorly wrong in this design.

Lightweight and quiet, convenient fold down handles are nice. Unfortunately, I think there may be an engineering issue with the motor mount/bracing. Like many of the reviews here, my mower overheated after a few summers of use. I thought perhaps the fan was clogged with clippings and reducing air flow, but when I disassembled the mower, it looks like the point of failure is actually caused by the torque on the motor. Starting (or stopping) seems to pull the motor core just off of center, which, over time, causes uneven brush wear and top bearing failure. This all snowballs to trash the motor (and melt the plastic housing, wire insulation, etc if you keep running it while overheating). Seems like this is a somewhat common issue based on the reviews. I believe my mower was a type 2, with the brake assembly (I think this was the main difference between the two, and seems like it was added to mitigate this torque issue). I have an electric snowblower, weed whip, chain saw, and pole saw. I love the minimal maintenance (no seasonal gas change or carb cleaning) and light weight as compared to my old gas versions. Not sure if electric mowers are up to par yet, though. See the pictures w/ motor assembly top bearing of center and uneven brush wear.

Bought this one because I heard good things about it being cost friendly but useful...that turned out to be wrong! I only used it for 1 spring/summer and now it won't work at all! Nothing wrong with my cords as they power other electric outdoor tools so it's definitely the mower. It stopped working in the middle of a cut and won't turn back on. After only 1 year?? Not happy at all B&D

Used it for one year, kept it clean, today the motor slowed way down and stopped. I immediately shut it off. I took the whole thing apart all the way to the motor. After 1.5 hours of air cooling, the heat sink that wraps the motor was still too hot to touch. After letting it completely cool off another two hours, I power the motor after thoroughly pressured air cleaning it. With no load (I unstrapped the drive belt, leaving the motor to spin unloaded), it struggled to spin at first, got up to speed after about 12 seconds, seized and hummed. I immediately shut it off, and the heat sink was again too hot to touch. The motor is basically done.

I bought one of these in Spring 2017after having elbow replacement surgery. I needed something light and efficient. This mower has performed admirably for 5 years, now. I even drop it down to the lowest setting and vacuum the street in from of my house. After 5 years I need to replace my blade. I've experienced no other problems.

Ive had this mower for less then 3 months. Bought it to reolace a gas mower that quit. Well this mower is junk. My previous B and D lasted many many years. Was mowing and it just quit. I should have checked the reviws before purchaseing but was in a bind. Now with grass not cut abd no mower and no money to get a new one..still paying on this one.
