Q: Why is this labeled as gluten free when under specifications it states one of the components is wheat?
submitted by Amy - 4 years ago
A: I hope that's not true. What ingredient do you see? This site (just threw out the box) only lists: Potatoes, Beef, Corn, Cultured Sour Cream (daily, Culture, Enzymes), butter, onion powder, salt.

There are a lot of negative reviews but I don't understand why. I enjoyed this moreso than other frozen dinners. It's not soggy and the beef is seasoned. It heats up perfectly in the oven. I like the portion size because it's not too many calories.
Bland!!

This might possibly be the driest shepherds pie I have ever had. The only flavor it had was from the corn. It is dry ground beef, corn, and mashed potatoes. I will not be purchasing again.
Loved it!

This was delicious but too expensive for the size. I wasn’t even close to full after eating this.
Meh.

Had NO seasoning. Like, none. It would’ve been amazing if it did. Meat on bottom. On par with other reviews. So much potential here and it falls so short.
Not my favorite Blake's meal

First, shepherd's pie is made with lamb; this is a cottage pie. When I make cottage pie I add onions, carrots and peas to the ground beef and I make a gravy. Blake's version is just seasoned ground beef (very tasty, I have no problem with the taste), corn (lots of corn) and mashed potatoes. No gravy, no onions, peas or carrots to bump up the flavor. Except for the beef this is a very bland meal. I was hoping for more as I like several of Blake's meals a lot

As a Brit, I like to think I know a good Shepherd’s Pie. This is definitely very good. The meat is flavorful and tender, as is the mashed potato. Also I love this as I can’t tolerate spicy food. This is great as you can add salt and pepper as you like it.
Disappointed

I agree with the other reviews. The meat had an off putting texture. There is no seasoning at all. I tried to add salt and pepper to make it palatable, but it wasn’t very helpful. It was dry and flavorless. I purchased it because we enjoy the chicken pot pie from the same company, but I won’t purchase the Shepard’s Pie again It really is a very small portion. The meat was in one corner of the container and the corn filled the rest and topped with the potatoes. The corn and potatoes were so so, but the meat was awful. I ended up just tossing it out

This is not a meal by any stretch of the imagination. Portion is tiny and there's nothing besides beef, potato and corn.

Bland, needs poor man’s steak sauce (A1) slathered on to make tolerable. Too much corn for filler but ok for quick hamburger in a pinch or if you need a bland diet. Potatoes are good. Filling for less than average appetite but would need 2 if very hungry. Wish it was grass-fed beef.

Tiny portion, no flavor, very dry meat and bland mashed potatoes. No peas or other staple veggies found in Shepard’s Pie. Just NO!

A very small portion of dry ground beef, topped with corn and instant mashed potatoes. Shepherd's Pie? Not much flavor and very dry. And what do they mean by....made from scratch mashed potatoes?
Pretty Tasty! Perfect size.

I really liked everything about this frozen dinner. The portion was perfect for lunch. My only complaint was the lack of different vegetables. Corn is ok but where's the rest?
Blah. Pass on it

Love getting this sometimes… rare to find a Shepherd’s Pie without peas.
