Q: What if I used watercolor, would it bleed through?

submitted by Rose - 5 years ago
  • A: Yes, watercolor will bleed through the pages, especially if you like to use a lot of water. The pages will also buckle. This book is best suited for dry media and markers.

submitted byPainterina - 2 years ago
  • A: No. I have the sketchbook and use watercolor and I don't have bleeding problem.

submitted byRose - 5 years ago
  • A: Watercolor will bleed through a little bit. Some markers will as well. It's a thick book, but it's best suited for dry media.

Q: If I write with gel pens would the pen bleed through the page?

submitted by cj - 6 years ago
  • A: There should be no issues with the gel pen or a ball point pen bleeding through.

submitted byVictoria - 5 years ago
  • A: Gel pens and markers don't bleed through to the other side.

submitted byVictoria - 5 years ago

Q: Is this a hardcover drawing book?

submitted by Michelle - 6 years ago
  • A: I saw it on a video and the cover looks like it bends. The whole book can be bended a little. The woman said it's "so soft" whatever that means. She raved about it.

submitted byCAGirl - 5 years ago
  • A: No it is a soft cover

submitted byLisaelaineeee - 6 years ago

Q: What is the paper weight/GSM, please?

submitted by mommyshortlegs - 2 years ago
  • A: The paper is about the same or slightly heavier than typical printer paper. It will buckle if you get the pages wet or collage with white glue. It's not a heavy duty sketchbook.

submitted byPainterina - 2 years ago

Q: Are the pages perforated

submitted by K - 5 years ago
  • A: The pages are not perforated.

submitted byVictoria - 5 years ago

Q: Is the cover made of paper-like material?

submitted by JJ - 6 years ago
  • A: the cover is made of art board and is a similar consistency/flexibility to card stock (however is thicker than that). It would be more of a "softcover" style than a "hardcover"

submitted byVictoria - 5 years ago

Q: How many pages does the sketch book have?

submitted by XxjeanellelittlejohnxX - 6 years ago
  • A: The description stated that it has 240 pages I believe.

submitted byMichelle - 6 years ago

Q: Is the paper work with alcohol-based markers like Copics?

submitted by Crystalfangs - 8 years ago
  • A: No they would bleed through unfortunately

Best for dry media

I like the large size and the fact that is has 240 pages. Unfortunately the paper is cheap and colors bleed through when I use watercolor or alcohol markers, sometimes onto the following page! This paper is also buckles easily. I mostly use it for pencil drawings, holding loose sketches and writing. If you want a sketchbook for markers that doesn't bleed, I recommend Crescent brand, or use watercolor paper.

The book’s pages rip of easily, which makes it harder to store them for memories. If you want to keep your drawings safe, I recommend you don’t buy this sketchbook.

I love this Sketchbook. I have had it since 2016 and have used everything from graphite to charcoal to paint pens and acrylic paints. I have never had an issue with bleed through (even with many layers of paint!) and one of my favorite things is that it lays flat! I will probably never buy any other sketchbook ever again.

The sketchbook I received was falling apart badly and I had to use tape and gorilla glue to keep it together. I still use it, but if you are thinking of purchasing, please do it in store rather than online.

sketchbooks seriously suck. I bought 4 for me and my siblings because I live in another state and wanted each of us to draw in them throughout the year. HOWEVER, within the third day of having it, the pages started falling apart and ripping. It seems like it’s good quality at first glance but it’s not. Do NOT buy.

Expressive Arts Project - 2 years ago
Overall- the paper quality is fantastic for pencil, pen, concentrated watercolor, oil pastel, and collage. If you want to use acrylic paint in it, just lightly gesso the page and use thin acrylic layers. Not great for anything too watery. The binding is good, but the cover might fall off. I didn’t care because then I had an opportunity to redo it with velvet cloth and make it more personal. I love the toothy grain of the paper and have ripped out pages to bind in other small journals. I think it’s a good buy for the size and quality of the paper. Just note that it’s not technically mixed media paper so you’ll have to build light layers if you choose to use it that way. If you need to use more water, opt for a watercolor rated pad instead.

Likes, size is good, paper quality was decent. Dislikes, the cover is a paper material, can be ripped easily. I ended up returning for that reason. Not a well thought out decision to cheap out on the cover.

These are fantastic! I use them In our homeschool for our science notebooks. The pages are thick and the page size is large enough for a lot of information. Markers and heavy sharpies do bleed through, but we glue things over the back sometime it just skip and write on the next page.
