Got this peanut butter chocolate oats bar as a free sample and was pleasantly surprised. Although I am a health freak, I make my own bread with the home-ground flour from organic wheat, I'm not a big fan of granola or protein bars. In spite of beautiful pictures of wholesome ingredients they usually have some strong perfume-like flavor that overrides all the other flavors. Like I'll be eating some sort of cashew chocolate bar but primarilly taste rose essential oil for example. Another problem I often find is that some health bars contain high fructose corn syrup as their second ingredient, which makes them not very healthy. Also a lot of those bars have a rough texture that will scratch your gums when you chew. So, I was amazed to find that Bob's Red Mills bar didn't have any of these problems. I actually tasted what the wrapper said: peanut butter and chocolate. No weird perfumy flavors, just a yummy combination of peanuts, chocolate and vanilla with a hint of honey. It's not overly sweet either, no high fructose corn syrup. The texture is smooth, fudge-like with finely chopped oats. Tiny chocolate chips give it a desert-like feel. I looked at the ingredients, they're all good, no unpronouncible chemicals or E + numbers preservatives. So, altogether this bar is nutritious, wholesome and finger-licking good. Powerful enough to even entice me, a granola bar sceptic.

Chewy but no crunch. Depending on your preference the taste was either mild or flavorless. I was disappointed as their grain products are so high quality while these bars are mediocre.

Kids and husband love these! Our favorite flavors are this one and the peanut butter and jelly one. At first a was surprised that the chocolate is not in chunks or chips, it’s more integrated and the whole bar has a uniform texture. But the family loves them.

I just received my order today (4/20/2021) and tried the chocolate and peanut butter bars and I really like them. I carry them in my car for times that I am away from home and hungry. I use a lot of Bob’s Red Mill flours so I am pleased to have a healthy snack bar from them as well.
