Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

They fit excellent around the waist. The length on them is good and comes right down to the knee. We really like the cargo pockets on them for a stylish touch. The black denim wash is neutral and goes with just about anything in your wardrobe. Overall, these are great denim shorts. My son really likes them. I received an incentive to write this review.

We picked up a Boy’s Size Large (10/12), and while the adjustable waist was helpful, he still needed a belt to get the right fit. He liked the color and overall style, but found them too baggy and loose for his comfort. These might work better for kids who prefer a more relaxed fit. I received an incentive to write this review.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My son is a tall 7 year old wearing a size small in these shorts. These are very baggy. I would size down and you will still get the baggy look. These are way too oversized for my liking. I like the grey weathered color for something different. The length is just too long as well. These are not my son’s style at all, but we tried them. If you want baggy and long, these are your shorts. I received an incentive to write this review.

These shorts have an adjustable waist but even with the adjustable waist they were way to large for my son. He normally wears a 10/12 but these fit very large for that size. The denim itself is very soft to touch and if they fit appropriately would have been comfortable to wear. I received an incentive to write this review.

We went with the extra small and they fit him perfect. They are meant to be a longer style jean short. I can’t imagine them being on someone who is much shorter then my son, because they were long on him. They aren’t his favorite look, but they are very well made and if it’s the look you like they are very nice. I received an incentive to write this review.
