Kids’ measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to make taking your child's body measurements easy-peasy.

Dont have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Height

    Have your child stand in front of the fridge.Mark the top of the head with a magnet. Measure a straight line from floor to magnet.

  • Chest

    Have your child make airplane arms. Wrap tape measure around the fullest part of the chest, keeping it level & snug.

  • Waist

    With your child bending to one side, measure the point where the waist flexes naturally. Keep the tape level & comfortably loose.

  • Hip

    Have your child stand like a tall tree with feet together. Measure a level line around the fullest part of the hips & seat.

  • Inseam

    Take a pair of pants that fit your child well. Measure along the seam from crotch to leg opening.

The sizing depends on how the child measures, if closer to size 10 size then I would go to size Large 10-12 and if child measures closer to size 8 then go with M 8.   • A: I recommend using the size chart (height: 62-65/weight:109-120), my 11 year old son wears XL and they fit well. The drawstring helps if they're on the slender side.

I like these shorts for my older son. He’s 12 and large fits him perfect. The shorts go just a little above the knee. (He is average for height and weight) I usually pick up multiply pairs when they are on sale. The don’t shrink in laundry but the length messes up and losses color if you don’t wash on right setting. Plus needs ironing after washing. I used to iron them now I don’t 😜 I think I love the price of the shorts while on sale more than the product but when they’re on sale I stock up.
