I wanted to find a nice, strong walking stick for my husband. I found this company and read all the reviews and was impressed. I ordered the 58" Hickory Free Form stick. We received it very quickly. It was packed it a very nice shipping tube and when my husband opened it, I could tell he was extremely happy with it. It was just beautifully finished and such a wonderful sturdy piece of hickory. I am so thrilled that it is perfect for my husband to get around with. He has diabetic neuropathy and has trouble with balance. This beautiful hickory stick will really help him a lot ... and what a great conversation piece, as well! We couldn't be happier with this purchase.
Very well made. Perfect for me. I use this instead of a ca

I had a hickory walking stick like this one from your company and lost it a few weeks ago. This one is exactly what I wanted. I'm 84, and hate "old lady" canes. This is an excellent alternative for me.

I recently ordered three hickory free form walking sticks. They all arrived very promptly with customized engraving and the non-liquid compass on top. The walking sticks are well formed, nicely finished and very strong. My family is looking forward to enjoying them for many years.

I lost the walking stick I had, so I ordered this one. It is great for helping to walk on uneven surfaces such as logs or rocks, plus I always poke around for snakes before stepping over logs or rocks. It has helped me if I stumble such as stepping into an animal burrow such as ground squirrels, etc. Helps in soft sand, as well as obstacles on trails. Could be protection from snakes or angry animals.

My wife wanted a walking staff so I ordered her a 55" from a distributor or Brazos, we both loved it when it arrived. The staff was sized perfect for her being 5'4'' but too short for me. I am 6'2'' so I ordered the 58" direct form Brazos. It shipped quickly and was as equally beautiful and expertly crafted as the 55". Seems like it is SUPER strong as it is a very thick circumference. Highly recommended.

I ordered two of these of various hights. The larger/taller of the two was thicker stronger and seemed sturdy. There wasn't much give at all. I think it will hold up just fine. It wasn't however very straight towards the bottom. The short one I ordered for myself was thin wood with lots of give. It bent without much force. Feels like it would snap in half. Does not feel sturdy like the taller stick I bought for my husband. However it is nice and straight. They both look nice and rustic. I'm not completely satisfied with this purchase but I have decided to keep them both and hope for the best. I hope mine holds up better than I think it will. We will be going on vacation and going on a lot of trails with these soon. I sure hope these serve us well. If not I hope the company stands behind there products. 4 stars for now. I wish I could rate 3.5. Seemed overpriced.

The stain turned out very well and the free-form style added character- looked beautiful. It also seemed like it wouldn't be too much of a burden to carry along on longer trails, though it hasn't been tested yet. I ordered this five days before Christmas, with an added compass and engraving, and it was shipped the next day! It made a great Christmas gift for someone who loves hiking and being outdoors.

I ordered this as a gift for my dad and it came out beautifully! It's of great quality and is the perfect weight - not too light or too heavy. I also added an engraved inscription and it's perfect!

My first Brazos stick was bought in a shop in Palm Springs in 2006. Now, it is covered with the wood-burned names of all the places it has been, so I needed new space, to record new adventures. I had my new stick delivered to where my trip was starting and it arrived exactly as described and is now off to the Oneonta Gorge, which will soon be burned into the shaft. (That practice makes for a great conversation-starter in airports!)

I have 2 of the Hickory free-form sticks, and a third on the way. One has the stock thick cane-like ferrule; the other has the upgraded combi tip. I really like these hickory sticks - obviously, since I've purchased three of them! They are VERY solid, hefty and meaty. I've weighed my Brazos hickory sticks against my other Brazos sticks, and they weigh about 50-60 % more! This can be both good or bad depending on what you're looking for. They are not for people looking for the lightest possible stick; they are really for people who want some hefty and solidity to their stick, which in addition to walking they could also use for defense from 2 or 4 legged critters. Having held these hickory sticks in hand I can tell you it is very unlikely any predator would continue annoying you after taking a hit or two with one of these. The hickory wood and pattern is very nice - not quite as wild or "out there" as some of the other woods, but a very nice quality wood with a classy appearance. Brazos has a lot of nice woods to choose from but I would recommend including at least one hickory stick in the collection - it's kind of like the "core" stick to build a collection around, in my opinion.
