A: No not really. Holes are pre-drilled for hardware.

Q: Does this come with any warnings about the toxicity of the materials? The last bookcase I bought (different brand) came with hazard warnings about formaldehyde in the wood or glue.

Do not buy this product. It is almost completely made out of cheap mdf wood. Glue was coming out of the seams, scratches, and you can tell someone new stained it. Very cheaply made.
