I am just getting back into sewing after many years. This machine was easy to set up and seems to work well so far. I signed up for a refresher course and I am looking forward to getting a lot of use out of it.

This was my first time touching a sewing machine, so naturally I spent quite some time watching YouTube tutorials. Unfortunately the bobbin winder is broken/missing from my machine, which took me awhile to figure out as a newbie. The box is filled with packaging that says "Do not return! Contact Brother for help!" so I emailed and called support. In order to get the part replaced, I'll have to commute an hour to the nearest authorized service center (and another hour back!). They won't mail a replacement part. Ultimately, I was able to figure out how to set up this machine in one evening, and decided to hand-wind my first bobbin. I'm excited to start using the machine regularly — after I find time to make the 2+ hour commute to the service center, that is :(

My first sewing machine and I watched some demo videos. Only thing I don't like is the bottom threader to the needle, if you don't hold the threads when you start they get all jammed up.
