A: There is 12.32" between the top and bottom shelf and 2.74" between the bottom shelf and floor.

Q: The picture shows one tier and the video shows a shelf in between. Is the shelf optional to put in? I need it as it is in the video for two levels.

A: This TV stand comes in various sizes. Those that accommodate a TV of 32"-55" have 3 shelves. The largest, which accommodates a TV up to 65", the SDC1400-A, comes with 2 shelves only. Additional shelves cannot be added to any unit.
