Good product with a few manufacturing/design flaws

I got this stove in the mail yesterday. It seems like a good stove, but there were a few flaws that if fixed could make it a great stove. First off, when I was trying to put the legs on I noticed that the weld nuts for the set screws had burrs coming out of them either from the drilling of the hole or the threading of the weld nut. The burrs were so bad that I had to get out my rotary tool and grind them down before the legs would slot on. The second flaw is the packaging. It is not sturdy enough for the weight of the product. There were multiple rips and puncture marks in the packaging, and one of the short legs was severely dented. I was able to work the dent out enough for I get it to work. But it was disappointing to have to fix a brand new product. Also, the griddle had rust marks on it, which I assume could have been prevented by proper packaging. I ended up sanding off the pre-seasoning and re-seasoning it because of this. Another flaw is the red logo on the wind shield is not painted with high temperature paint. If you wipe it when your stove is going, it will smear. Finally the griddle doesn’t sit on the grate as nicely as I thought it would. It’s hard to tell if you are supposed to push it all the way back or all the way forward. In either position it isn’t in contact with the rack as much as it seems it should be. The heating is also much hotter at the back of the griddle than at the front. All that said, I am happy that I bought it and it seems like it will cook many great meals for many years. It operates very well and is very intuitive. I just wish that the manufacturer would go the last 10% and fix these little annoying flaws. The customer should be able to use the product right out of the box and not have to fix various things before using it.

My Wife bought me this stove for my Birthday and I love it, The griddle was well seasoned and I cook breakfast of bacon and eggs the morning after I received it. Nothing stuck and it was very easy to clean. We do a lot of entertaining and this stove is a great asset to my outdoor kitchen. I cooked fajitas for a group of 18 the other day and Ive used it about 3 times a week for the the last month.

I first used a friends Camp Chef 14" 3 burner stove while camping. Once, while cooking breakfast using the flat top griddle, it was fairly windy which often makes outdoor cooking a challenge. With the Camp Chef, this was not the case. The flat top griddle maintained even heat, and simply turning the heat up from low to medium (again, in about a 20 mile an hour wind), no issues at all. This holiday season, I was fortunate enough to have Santa leave an Expedition 3X for me, and have used it a couple of times (once in 7 degree weather) already. As advertised, plenty of heat to overcome extreme cold. I would highly recommend this product.

We bought this stove last winter and have waited for the weather to warm up to use it. We couldn't wait for the campground to open up so we set it up on the back deck and started cooking steaks on the Gridley, they turned out great. Last weekend I cooked breakfast at the campground for about 20 people the stove and Gridley preformed flawlessly. I have ordered some accessories to go with the big Gridley I really like the big spatula, it make less work of a large pile of hash browns. I can't wait to get the stainless grill box we'll take that to Michigan Speedway for the races. We'll be doing a lot of cooking there. We cook out alot and have had several different set ups over the years, I really like the way this stove is set up. It is well designed and built. We will be buying more accessories also like the leg levelers and cooking kits.

I've owned one of these for about 5 years now and use it all the time and love it. Having the removable flat top and exposed third burner is very convenient. When using the flattop, I place a large square metal pan on the extra burner (with no heat) and the residual heat from the flattop keeps the other pan warm enough to act as warming tray. The only suggestion I have to the manufacturer is it would be nice if they offered this same stove in a version similar to the flat top grill FTG600. The Expedition 3X would be perfect if it was on wheels and had a holder for the gas tank. Because I use mine so much, it's a little inconvenient to have to carry it back and forth to my garage and setup the tank every time.
Great Product. Definately worth it!

Was so excited to get this, I had to set it up and cook outdoors in the snow and below zero temperatures. Still had fun and loved it!

I've had this rig for about 8 months now and find it hard to come with a reason to not take it with me when Im going on a hunting or camping trip. I have a double burner griddle and added the additional single burner giddle. This created the perfect setup in my opinion. It allows you to have full side to side griddle surface or you can remove one side or the other to gain access to the burners while still griddling away. I bought this originally because I was tired of it taking over an hour and messing up several skillets plus the electric skillet to cook saturday morning breakfast for my family. The two burner griddle allows you to cook a full package of bacon all at once (AWESOME!). With the bacon finished and the grease still lingering pile on the hashbrowns while the sausage cooks on the single burner griddle. As the hashbrowns and sausage come off the eggs and pancakes start going down. Badda bing you are finished! Hosting a pancake breakfast fund raiser with this thing is not a problem. I have cooked everything on this rig from burgers and split hot dogs, fajitas (great for cooking/warming tortillas), grilled cheese sandwiches (everyone gets one while the cheese is still hot) to spagetti, green beans and garlic toast. I have this rig setup on my porch and prefer it over my electic flat top range in the kitchen. The heat is far more consistent than the range and there is alot more of it. I have had this camping in the mountains, at the lake for a family reunion, at the state parks camping with freinds, hunting in the high plains grasslands where a ground fire is out of the question, down at the river cooking for the crew and it has never let me down. The only thing that I will be modifying are the legs. Im going to slip on a section of pipe over the legs with tension bolt, this should allow me to adjust the height of each leg to get everything level. In the mountains finding a level spot was not an option. Had to dig holes for the back legs to fit into and put the front legs on rocks to get it level. I recommend this rig to everyone. I have a friend that got one for christmas and I helped my mom order one for my dad for christmas. I have an uncle that keeps slobbering on mine everytime he sees it, I wouldn't be shocked it he got one too. One last note. I noticed on the single griddles coming out now that they have a flame tamer welded to the under side of the griddle so no need to order 3 flame tamers if that feature stays the same. If you are using the griddles, flame tamers are a must buy. HOT SPOTS are not your friend, get the tamers. COOK ON! IM OUT!
All you need/want in an outdoor stove.

Whether you are boiling, baking, frying or otherwise, this stove has the output to manage it all. The accessories available are second to none and the fact that everything is made to last and perform is almost unheard of in this day and age! Very easy to care for and use, its like having a restraint stove at your disposal. Each burner is capable of boiling a 12 quart pot of water in minutes. The griddle and Dutch oven accessories are invaluable for a breakfast junkie like me and my kids. I will be buying the grill box as that would make this the all in one Swiss army stove! Love this stove, and I cannot wait to re-review in a few years and brag about it again! Thanks Camp Chef!
