Q: I'm looking for a bookcase put next to my fireplace that can hold my DVD player and cable box. Does this bookcase have a cutout in the back that would allow the cords to plug into the wall?
A: The book shelves you inquired about are sturdy and strong. I actually have 10 of this styles of shelves (in various shapes and sizes) around the house. Unfortunately, the shelves do not have a cut out for cords cables. I have two answers/sugestoins to answer your question: 1. I have cables running out of the back of one of my shelves. I did not screw the back panel at all points, creating a gap between to shelf and the back paneling large enough to run the cables through. The gap is not noticeable from the front of the shelf. 2. If you have the tools to do so, you could always cut a whole where you would need the cutout for your cables. The shelves are great and I would recommend purchasing them.
submitted byMr E - 8 years agoA: No, but it is super easy to do using a holesaw. You attach it to a drill and it will create a round hole.
submitted byBrenda M - 8 years agoA: I see this question is insanely old, but answering for others. I had multiple of these and I cut a small hole myself in a discrete place and it worked well.
submitted byWgibbs - 1 year agoA: I actually left the whole back off the book case. The color of my wall looked really nice as a back drop! You could do the same if you want the dvd player on the lower shelf so you dont see all the cords hanging down.

Q: Would it look weird if you left the cabinet doors off?

Q: Will two bookcases fit flush next to each other?
A: we bought two in the grey color and put them side by side and they look nice next to each other.
submitted byholliday143 - 7 years agoA: Yes, mine are side by side. They are on a hard wood floor and there is occasionally a gap between them created from slight shifting. I just push them back together and they are fine. They will not look like built ins because you will see the slight gaps between them.

Q: Is it possible to get an additional shelf? I have thin things to go on the upper portion but don't want to sacrifice the shelf inside the lower cabinet. Please tell me there is a way to order an extra shelf and pins!

Q: what color is expresso it ishard to tell
A: Just so you know, in daylight the espresso color has a purple-ish hue. It doesn’t have a very natural tone. We moved them to our basement media room and they look like a dark brown (like espresso coffee) and the purple hue isn’t noticeable.

Q: Would I be able to fit Up and Up 2" binders on each shelf - just wondering if the shelves are tall enough to be useful in my office. Tia for your help.
