Carter's by DaVinci Colby 4-in-1 Convertible Crib with Trundle Drawer

We really liked this crib at first. The design is simple and gender neutral and it was spot on to what we wanted. The drawer is also a nice feature for limited storage spaces. However, after 9 months of use, our baby bit a chunk of wood out of the railing. It’s normal for babies to gnaw on the crib and teeth marks are a given. We use this crib only for naps and bedtime and we share our room with the baby so as soon as she’s up, so are we. She’s never left in her crib for extended lengths of time and we check in often and are always checking our baby camera. Somehow, within the hour that our baby was in her crib during her nap, she bit a chunk out of the crib. An actual chunk that I had to fish out of her mouth. The wood in that spot is splintering apart and the raw and very rough wood is exposed and so I’m trying to find a solution to this. We’ve had to move her to the pack n play and this crib is now sitting off to the side of the room and is no longer being used. Given that this is a convertible crib, we intended to use it for quite some time. Ideally, 5 years was the goal. I’m pretty surprised that a crib at this price is made with this wood material that can apparently be chewed off in chunks in a very short window of time (considering the baby was in the crib for a nap for no more than an hour and she was sleeping almost that entire time). Point being, she wasn’t awake in there for really much time at all since I too was in the room (again, we room share) and I got up as soon as I heard her stirring. And to my disbelief and concern, when I go to get my daughter from her crib I see wood in her mouth and notice a chunk is missing and there are his splinters and blood coming from her mouth. I don’t even know what to do at this point because by purchasing this crib, we intended for it to last (safely) throughout its convertible crib to toddler bed lifespan. And after only 9 months of use, it’s become a hazard, we aren’t even using it so now it’s taking up additional space, and we’re left without a crib and out about $300. Again, babies gnaw and chew on things, especially cribs. But with an hour…most of which she was asleep..I just don’t see how a product with this price tag can be easily ripped to shreds posing a very concerning safety risk to our little one.

Crib looks nice, is easy to assemble, has multiple mattress height options, and has plenty of storage space in the drawer. I took off a star because the contents of the drawer can be seen underneath the mattress when it is set to the newborn/highest level, but I solved that problem by laying a black tablecloth on top of the mattress base under the mattress. I draped the cloth sides just to "kiss" the top of the drawer. Also note that the drawer does not fully extend, so any items that may be in the back of the drawer are a bit tricky to get to.

The drawer is not that easy to use gets stuck or off track

I got the washed natural and it is a beautiful color. It matched perfectly with my baby changing station not from davinci but babyletto. Love the bottom drawer to store beddings. The quality of this crib is great and very sturdy. The only cons is the you can see the bottom drawer when the mattress height is up high. But I used a crib skirt to cover that.

Greta sturdy abs cute crib! Lasted me a year so far. The only thing is the drawer can be hard to pull out and push in if you are on carpet

I really like the drawer and the fact that it's on a track rather than just sliding around on the floor.

Love my crib! The only reason I gave it 4 stars was bc the particle board used for the base of the drawer is not very good. It constantly pops out of the slits.

What kind of mattress y’all required? And what size

I have never put together any piece of furniture with such ease! The precision and accuracy of every cut edge and piece was amazing. I was afraid with the poor way fed ex handled the box that it would be ruined, but the packaging was so amazing that I only found two tiny and subtle marks. Took about an hour and everything is snug to piece together in such a perfect way enough that you have to go slow but once it all comes together it looks amazing!

This was a gift to our new great-grandson so I'm not sure how they like it. The baby is not due until March but they were anxious to set up the nursery.

I highly recommend this crib! My husband had no trouble putting it together even with our toddler trying to help. The drawer is a little messed up but I knew that when purchasing based on the reviews. My husband isn’t too concerned mostly because the drawer will rarely be used. My daughter has a similar crib with a drawer and we rarely use hers. We will end up fixing the track and making it slide better eventually but not in a big rush over it. Overall I do recommend this crib!

We love everything about this crib except for the trundle drawer. The drawer slides and hardware were bent upon arrival. My husband was able to bend them back in place, but it still does not slide open or closed easily. The drawer also only pulls out half way. It would be nice if the manufacturer would change the drawer slides to be longer so that the drawer pulls all the way out for easy access to items in the back of the drawer.

So far my son hasn’t gotten to enjoy this item because it was sent with a manufacturer defect. But I got ahold of the crib manufacturer company “Million Dollar Baby” costumer service and they were helpful and they are going to be send me a whole new part. The crib looks great, very sturdy so far and I’m excited to get it put together! :)

Love the new crib! The only probably with the drawer is that if you have a fluffy rug under the crib or in front, the drawer will hit it. In our case, stopping it from opening at all. We were able to get little risers to put on the 4 posts of the crib, and added some felt pads for extra height, so it works now but just wanted to share our experience.
