I bought this to replace an aging CFX-9850GB Plus on my desk. I'm not a mathematician or anything, I just like the layout of these units since I used them a lot in school, plus the programming capability is fun. It's a really nice unit. The color screen and everything is great. Good build quality and pretty good button feel. It does all the typical graphing calculator stuff, as some cool additional add-ins if you like. Only problem is the newest OS update for the thing. (Yes it has OS updates lol). I strongly recommend you do not update to Ver. 3.80. It has a documented bug related to the menu and causes crashes. I was able to install the previous version but this is not a straightforward process. This is not up to the standard I would expect from Casio but hopefully they are working on it. Overall, I like it.

better than any texas instruments device and slightly weird in terms of power, takes batteries instead of having a built in rechargeable. great to add in some NiMH rechargeables! so cheap and much more powerful than a TI but some of the UI decisions are strange. otherwise its so great!!
Good for AP Calculus AB, Better Alternative to TI 84+CE

Colors and buttons are great, UI is easy to navigate, and the screen is wider, processing is faster than the TI 84+CE. Cheaper too. Only complaints are that it requires batteries (included) vs rechargeable, and that it is indeed bulkier. Otherwise, had no issues with calc work.

Better then what I anticipated and really quick delivery. 2 days early. I prefer this very much to the ti 84 and the keys are easy to navigate.

I purchased this for my college statistics class and I’m really liking it so far. Great deal it shipped fast and in pristine condition with usb cable and batteries. I panicked a little at first because I had no idea how to use it but everything is explained on the online manual. I recommend downloading manual to adobe on cell phone so that you can search key words on how to calculate different formulas in class. Once you figure out I feel like the user interface is cleaner than the ti84, quicker and better looking too.

I am a computer consultant. I have owned many high end HP calculators. I have owned a few Casio calculators in the past, ranging from an FX-115 ES to an FX-7000g (the first graphing calculator available in the US from any manufacturer). The pros are the color display, the speed and the keyboard. The display is very clear and bright. The graphing speed is better than my HP 50g. The keyboard is easy to use. In a week of use, I had one instance where an inadvertent light push on a key failed to execute the function. The cons are that many of the math functions are accessed by the F1-F6 function keys after choosing a "function group" (my words not theirs) from the keyboard. The manual for FX-CG50 contains nearly 700 pages. This can be a concern for somebody who does not care to read. Using some of the math functions will either require some digging through the manual or using the on-line guide. I am happy with this purchase. This is a very capable machine and I don't have experience with any recent TI models to compare it with. The size of the manual may deter potential customers. With familiarity, having to refer to the manual will become less frequent. It is available as a PDF.
