Awesome bed for an awesome price. I was a little skeptical about purchasing it at first but it has actually turned out to be really nice! We did add some extra 2x4s for extra support. I assembled it with the help of my partner, and it was fairly easy. I thought that we would be good without a box spring but I measured it before we got our mattress and it would’ve been about 5 inches off. The distance measured 16in and our mattress was 11in, so we purchased a low profile 5in box spring & it worked perfectly. It does seem to sit lower than most beds but we don’t mind it still looks great.

OK, so here goes my review....love the bed great style, and easy to put together. I don't believe it must have a box spring as you do have slats for support. I did find the headboard interferes with the mattress as it sticks out 2" our mattress has a pillow top so it comes up pretty high and hard to use decorative pillows as they hide the headboard and makes the mattress not flat on top of the box spring due to the padded headboard sticking out. To me the headboard needs to be at least a 8" higher so you don't cover the headboard up and the base to be a few inches longer to make up for the padded headboard sticking out. I am going to try using it with out the box spring and let you know how it goes. Hope this makes sense and helps. Measures 151/2" from the slats to the bottom of the headboard.

We like the look of the bed. The fabric looks better than we expected for the price. Center leg support in very awkward spot...have smashed my toes numerous times. Unfortunately we bought the Queen size and the box spring fits but our mattress does not because of headboard. We are replacing our 9 inch box spring with a 5 inch hoping that will solve the problem. If that was mentioned in the description of the bed we may not have purchased.
