This my second Char- Broil grill. My first lasted 17 years. On my new one I've cooked ribs, hamburgers and sausage so far and it did an outstanding job. I also have a Char- Broil oil-less turkey fryer I've had 7 years and it is fantastic. Products are durable and replacement parts are easy to get in a timely manner. Totally satisfied with Char- Broil products.

Got this grill for a present four years ago. It has done a fantastic job with all my attempts at becoming "The Grill Master"! It's very sturdy & the grates are cast iron, not that flimsy wire grates. The only things I would change are the shelves. I would add one more board to both of them. Don't have quite enough room for the players of meat and the seasonings!

This grill is what you need if you’re looking for something big enough to handle grilling for several people at a time. There are no hot spots, which makes grilling 6 to 10 steaks at a time pretty enjoyable. I cookout 4 to 7 times a week and I have never pulled a piece of meat off this grill that wasn’t tender & juicy.

Second one with same issue. Metal grates fatigue with normal use and the ash pan burns thru and collapses. Bought another a year ago and trying to get ahead of expected failure of ash pan but mine measures approx 32"x 13". Only see replacements at 27". Sad the quality is not in the product to enjoy 5-10 years.

The warming rack is shoddy and keeps falling off and the temperature gauge gave up in under a year and so purchased another. The rack for pushing the entire BBQ came off and had to renew the bolts holding it on being it there is no handle to transport. From the cooking viewpoint it works fine but since all the other problems it has a 1 star for me

I have owned several Char-Broil products. These grills last well beyond many of their competitors similar products. For the price and quality, Char-Broil can't be beat!

I've had my grill for about 8 years now, and it has been left uncovered from the elements on my deck (hot summers 120F to cool winters rarely below 32F. Humidity in summer can range from 95% to 10%, winters are most often wet. A little on the edge of a tornado alley but big thunderstorm seasons. Use the grill less than one time a week, maybe 12 times to 20 times a year total. Maintenance, aside from usual cleaning: one respray in year 7 of the outside of the lid and bottom with heat resistant paint. Grilling plates needed scraping and cleaning of a little rust one time. I burn them off/season with a propane torch. The charcoal tray and warming tray are OK, but the ash pan is corroded with rust and holes and needs replacement for the next season. The rust problem due to it unprotected from the elements. Easy to clean regularly. After 8 years I scraped the inside of the lid and bottom to get rid of the accumulated crud. The wooden shelves on the side and front are soft wood and after a few years began to split, so I replaced them with hardwood to resist the weather etc. I'm happy with the grill from a cooking and maintenance viewpoint. Have successfully smoked with mesquite fairly often but needed to lower the charcoal pan to the bottom first. I love the smell of bacon outdoors in the morning, and the skeeters that stay in the smoke all burn up.

Slight Pain in the Ash

It is an awesome grill. It is just a pain to remove the charcoal container after you are done grilling to clean it. That is my only complaint about this grill. I love the grilling area, the grill plates (makes it non-stick), and holds good temperature.

I bought this model for my husband for father's day and he loves it. He has even cooked a turkey in it. There's plenty of room to cook about anything you want. I like that there is a ledge. He didn't have any trouble putting it together, but he is handy like that.

I received this grill as a Christmas gift in 2017. I'm a big fan of cooking on charcoal over gas. I love the taste and I love the challenge of cooking on charcoal as far as managing temps. I have smoked a couple of pork shoulders on this grill (one store bought and one from a wild hog) and they both came out great! One thing I will say about this grill is understanding that where the thermometer located can give inaccurate temperature reading for the entire grill. It is located on top of the barrel which is a common placement on grills, however the temperature gauge may be reading hotter than expected based upon the location of your hottest coals. If you're cooking direct heat and need at least 400 degrees, the thermometer may only be reading 250 causing you to add more charcoal and burn your meat. I feel like there can be an improvement in that area, however I do understand it is a price point grill and if you want some fancier options spend the money. Overall this thing has performed well and I have had no issues out of it.

Overall, the product can produce some decent food but for the price don't expect the performance of the higher-end models. This is a base unit with a few flaws that can be overcome with a few tweaks...a good way to start cooking.

I love it. Like 5 years ago I received the medium size barrel grill as a gift from my mom. Best charcoal grill I ever owned. So last year I picked up this one. Live it. Enough room to smoke 2 racks of ribs. My medium size one is 5 years old and out in the weather uncovered, I use it just as much as my newer large one. Sadly, these are taken off the market, and replaced with the American gourmet. But I prefer this, and love the smoke stack. Great product.

17 YEARS OF GRILLING

We bought this grill 17 years ago when we were a young couple and money was tight. This charcoal grill has outlasted 3 gas grills during its life. After all this time and all the food it has cooked the poor thing is about to loose it’s bottom. Hands down the best grill on the market. It’s so old it wasn’t on the list to choose. Glad we spent the money on this old fella.

I own the model with the side smoker and could not be happier. My family love our meats to cook slow and tender. Using charcoal and wood, makes everything come out smoked and tender. Smoked bake mac and cheese is to die.

Purchased this grill for a holiday cookout! Great for beginners. Nice design overall. Grill has 2 racks so you can cook a variety of meat at the same time. Nice design and does not take up too much space on my small 10x10' deck. It does not need a lot of charcoal to get and stay hot. It only took a couple of hours to cook chicken wings, large pack of chicken legs, family pack of pork chops, 6 steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage, corn, asparagus, and jalapeño poppers.
