Everyone is busy on Christmas Street! Who is baking gingerbread? Who is wrapping presents? And who's that coming down the chimney? Find out in this follow-up to Alphabet Street. And after you read the rhyming story, lift the flaps to learn the letters of the alphabet and seasonal words. Then flip the book and have fun with the giant snowy concertina play-scene on the reverse! With two large, sturdy flaps on every spread; bright, cheerful artwork from Ingela P. Arrhenius, illustrator of the best-selling series of lift-the-felt-flap board books and the Peekaboo board book series; and a clever rhyming text from Jonathan Emmett, this is a charming Christmas alphabet book that little ones will return to again and again.Review Quotes
With a joyous lift-the-flap holiday alphabet tale and a fold-out play-scene, this festive story is one of the best Christmas books for kids who are broadening their vocabulary. . . . Plus, the story itself is adorable, as you read about what the animal inhabitants of Christmas Street are up to on the lead up to the big holiday, such as baking gingerbread and wrapping presents.

This adorable book takes place on Christmas Street—a cute village that has flaps that open. Inside them will be found residents busy with different Christmas tasks such as decorating the tree, making gingerbread or present shopping. Additionally, each flap shows a letter of the alphabet that has a Christmas theme. As the reader goes down Christmas Street, another building folds out until the book becomes over eight feet long! Besides being something to read, this book can stand up on its own, and even become a decoration. Children will be amazed to have a book that is this big, along with all the fun flaps to open. The members of the village are cute animals such as reindeer, bears and even giraffes. The illustrator, Ingela P. Arrhenius, made the pictures brightly colored and endearing. Little ones through five-years old will love this lift-the-flap board book. They will enjoy the many surprises under the flaps, the book's ability to grow, along with the way it can be set up when opened. This sturdy book is sure to last a long time, and I highly recommend it! Candlewick Press has provided Tickmenot with a complimentary copy of, Christmas Street, for the purpose of review.

This is an absolutely charming, fun alphabet book focusing on Christmas. It is a fold-out book and as it expands it creates a street scene. On each page there are 2 lift-the-flaps that reveal a line of the lilting poem. Nice rhyming and cadence. The illustrations are absolutely delightful. Cute. Lively. Lots of treasures to find in the pictures. The reverse of the fold-out-street scene is a lively snow scene where the children can formulate their own story telling. A delightful book that has a ribbon closure tie to hold it all together. I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. Opinions are mine alone and are freely given.
