Cobra 40-Channel Handheld CB Radio, HH 50 WX ST in Black

Having fun with hand held. But car charger won’t charge. House charger works. Doesn’t work on batteries alone. But gets good reception.

This radio is very good! The battery life is excellent, the range is about 100 yards maximum, but inside those 100 yards the quality is very good. The device itself is very sturdy and worth the money. It's a battery powered CB radio and it's just as good as a regular CB radio!

Returned this product, did not meet my needs.

The quality of the machine is good but does not revive at all, the battery is good but I would not recommend for a hand held cb for any receiving does not work at all.

I purchase a Cobra CB HH 50 WX ST in September 2023. I tried using it a couple of times to test it and wasn't able to reach anyone, or any truckers near my freeway exit just about 200 to 300 yards away from where I was standing. I thought it was just me so I gave up. After two months I tried it again with help from a friend with another radio. They were able to receive my transmission up to about 300 yards away (outdoors in direct line of sight). Then nothing further away. This is super disappointing. I even bought and tried their upgraded antenna. The upgraded antenna made it worse and I couldn't even pickup the local NOAA station that I was able to pickup with the stock antenna. Being so disappointed, I called the number listed on Cobra's website where I bought the CB for help and the representative said that 300 - 400 yards is all it should be able to get since the radio is only 2 Watts. I told the representative that 300-400 yards is totally useless and I would have never bought it if I knew that's what I would get. I asked the representative if there is anything I can do and he said no. This completely changed my mind about buying a handheld CB radio for emergency communications, not very good if I can yell further than it can transmit.

Haven't had a chance yet to see how good this cobra HH 50 wx St works okay I will give you a better rating when I get time to install it in my car okay but it would of nice if the battiers came with it

Does not call out, very little incoming calls.

As far as the unit goes, it is working as I expect a Cobra unit to work. As far as using it in my truck, I have no way to mount it due to the different belt clip. A pity because there is no room to mount a normal CB. I travel all up and down the eastern seaboard, I thought this would assist during my weekly trips.

Have not heard anything to include weather. All it is, is a cute little toy

cannot beat it, I replaced a hh38 roadtrip I have had for over 10 years

Turned it on for 3 days and barely picked up a couple people talking once for 5 minutes. Not impressed

Not sure about the range only bought for checking in at customers seems to be a well built device. Have yet to need it to check in but have seen others using them and the range tends to be a hundred yards or so.

Cobra has always made good products for a long time and this radio continues that tradition. Very nice and works well when needed at my job. The Cobra mic I also recommend.

The radio is great standing still or walking. I used it recently on a drive from ATL to NC and had issues communicating with the driver behind me who had one as well. 1 car length away we could communicate, 2 cars or more resulted in a squelch for a keyed mic. In a traffic jam, truckers said I was walking tall. Then again, moving limited communication. Now to find an amp for this (if possible). May have to install a real CB and amp, but wanted something discrete for my type of vehicle.

Very short range. May be the rubber ducky antenna.
