Coleman Steel 54qt Belted Cooler

Bought it as a very expensive (worth it!!!) surprise for my Mom. She only wanted a Coleman and it had to have the steel belting. She got it and we still laugh at her specific criteria!

I absolutely love these coolers, just purchased two, my old one (approximately 37 years old) has seen better days; however, by far one of the best coolers I have ever owned.

I bought this cooler when they were first rereleased and was disappointed then. Was hoping that over time, todays date, they would have made needed changes. My issue is that it looks like a 70’s model, but not made to the same quality. I’ve read that materials have been updated to make the product better, not sure I agree. The locking system has changed so you don’t even need to unlock it, just pull or push hard enough on the lid. Not sure why the lock is even there. Also, what happened to the internal meat tray that use to come with every cooler. Does that item raise the price of the cooler so much no one would purchase it. I’ve been so disappointed in the one I purchased that it’s been upstairs in the barn since purchased it. I’ve been waiting for an honest vintage replica with durable steel parts instead of cheap plastic (locking mechanism, handle and latch, hinges…) before making another cooler purchase. I’ve been told the price would be to high for an item like that and no one would purchase it. Just browse online at the number of people looking for 70’s Coleman Coolers for sale. Throw the numbers out in emails and online and find out how many would be willing to pay for it. Make it so parts can be ordered and replaced. Make an actual replica using quality materials and make an American quality product again.

Great cooler, and has a cool look to it. Very spacious and works how it’s supposed to , keeps things cool. Has handles to make it easy to carry but can get heavy depending on what you put in there.

I absolutely love the cooler. It is super potable cooler. It is perfect for house parties and stores a lot of drinks. I also love the design as it looks super sleek!

They should have made the lid to fully lift off, but instead it’s on hinges. This makes it very awkward to clean. And a cooler is one of those things that needs to be meticulously cleaned between uses.

I have a vintage version of this cooler and the newer one (along with a collection of Coleman coolers!), and I love these durable and portable coolers! The capacity is just right and the insulation keeps stuff cool even in the valley.

Super cute. Works great. Keeps ice frozen for many hours. Easy to empty melted ice water from the side. Stores nicely in a vehicle or campsite. Easy to clean. Can carry anywhere with you. Does get heavy if you put too much in it though.

We love our 54 Quart Steel Belted Cooler by Coleman. We have many coolers from them and they all are great but this one is our favorite. Spacious and convenient.

I had 1 of these for years and it was the best. There this were built etong and keep ice solid for a long time if they still sell these on the look out for a new 1

I love this vintage cooler. It is very nostalgic and brings back memories from my childhood camping trips. This cooler is very effective at keeping drinks and food cold. It is very large and spacious. This is perfect for camping trips, sporting events, and so many other events.

My husband got this for Father’s Day. He is all about nostalgia so whatever his grandfather had we have to have for our camping trips. This cooler is beautiful and has plenty of room to keep your items cold for days. It is heavy but that’s because it’s metal. I have 2 issues with it. I do wish they would take the classics and make them even better. A latch with a lock on the front to make it harder for animals and kids to get in would be great and adding some wheels would make this classic even better. The metal dents really really easily. We have a couple dents just from when we were packing up the car. It still looks great but my husband is a perfectionist so when it has dents in it he gets a little nervous with the kids around it.

Great cooler. Needs a dry food basket. Our old one had it when we bought it.

My husband found a cooler just like this one in the trash and we cleaned it up and it works amazing. Alot of room and keeps everything cold for a long time. Since it's an older one we are hoping it last longer.

Good product . It looks great . But the packaging needs some work . We paid for overnight shipping , and it arrived a day late . And then most disappointing is that the cooler has a dent on the side . Please work of the packaging to have more paddings on sides of box .

We love the retro looks, but for the past 3 years this cooler never work like it should be, we had replace the handle latch twice and the lid just won’t close right, any bump on the road or little bit of force will open the cooler lid.

Just received my new cooler. I am retiring my one from 50 years ago. No dents. It arrived 4 days early

Old school works way better than plastic coolers for sure, highly recommended!
