I have had my meal cup for 10+ years and the lid finally chipped off on the seal also. I've used mine in the dishwasher & microwave the entire time. Am about to order a new replacement lid from Corning Ware for $2.20. I think that's a deal!!!

I liked the way they seal tight and the way they heat up so easily. They ARE a bit heavy to carry in a lunch bag. Had mine for several years until one day I opened it to heat my chili lunch and found chips and tiny slivers of the cover all over my chili! Disgusting! I NEVER heated the cup with the cover on and never washed either piece in the dishwasher, so I do not know why the cover suddenly literally crumbled into my chili! The cup is useless for transporting lunch without the cover, so I will have to dispose of both and search for a better replacement. So disappointed in this Corningware product.
