Q: will these paints work on rocks?

A: Thank you for asking this colorful question. Crayola Washable Kids' Paint is designed to create masterpieces on paper. You can use this paint to decorate rocks; however, you may find that multiple coats will be needed and we recommend you display your finished work indoors. While we do not manufacture a paint product designed to permanently withstand external elements, Crayola Acrylic Paint may work better for your outdoor project. Hope this helps!

Q: Will these paints “stick” to a pumpkin? I’m doing a messy kindergarten pumpkin painting party for Halloween.

Please note that the paint is only washable from most launderable clothing and skin, but can run if exposed to moisture. We recommend displaying the car indoors and avoiding the car wash. The paints work exactly as you'd expect and it is washable for the most part. However, the smell is ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC! Everyone in the house has a headache after using these paints. The odor lingers on your skin even after washing multiple times. I will only use these outside in the future, and only with paint brushes, not as fingerpaints.

My grandma always had these on hand for us when we were kids, and today was the day I introduced these to my toddlers. Granted, what I did was mix a small amount of paint on a dish with shaving cream and made a puffy paint. It made them into very pretty pastel colors. Three year old had a great time painting pretty pictures, but my one year old painter the table as well as herself. Everything and everyone came very clean easily with baby wipes and minimal effort. Next time we will put the picture inside a ziplock bag with paint and aim for a mess free finger painting activity.

I will be returning these. There is a strong floral/baby powder smell. It gave me a terrible headache and we even painted outside. I am sure that these scents are toxic and not he’s for anyone, let alone a child to breathe in.

These paints have such a strong perfume smell, it’s a terrible smell that lingers long after the painting is done. We don’t have fragrances in our home for health reasons and my toddler has bad eczema. There was no indicator about scented paint anywhere on the packaging or description. Shame on crayola, many parents are omitting endocrine disrupting and toxic fragrances from their homes so this should be clearly labeled. Not to mention kids and adults have sensory sensitivities and allergies.

These are really useful for any type of toddler project - we have used these on so many crafts, and each time they have washed off of our skin with ease and also off our clothes no problem. I've even used these for a couple of projects for myself!

If this is just for your kids to mess around and stay busy, it’s fine. But if you want to make any kind of lasting project, this is not good enough quality. It is so thin and transparent that it takes 3 coats to look any kind of decent.

Crayola Washable Kids' Paint is formulated to wash easily from most launderable clothing and skin. For optimal cleaning, we recommend washing the garment in hot water without pretreating the stain, as indicated on the package. Here is an additional tip to help remove any residual paint from you clothing: 1. Wash in hot water with laundry detergent for about 12 minutes (heavy soil cycle). Do not put the garment in the dryer. 2. Soak in a solution of Oxi Clean or Clorox 2® according to the instructions on the container for one hour. Let the garment air dry. 3. Repeat laundering should remove any residual stains. Do not heat-dry between washings. We hope this suggestion resolves the issue.
