Q: I experienced some stains on my teeth after using this mouthwash consistently. Is that a proven side effect as mentioned in your summary ??
A: We're so sorry to hear your teeth were left with stains, and are happy to help. Please know, all of our products are evaluated to be safe when used as directed. Like all mouthwash products that effectively fight plaque and gingivitis, Crest Pro-Health Anti-Plaque / Anti-Gingivitis mouthwash products contain and active ingredient that is recognized as safe and effective. These rinses can contribute to temporary, surface-level brown tooth discoloration. This tooth discoloration is actually a sign your mouthwash is working. After it kills germs in your mouth, the dead germs can collect on the tooth surface and create the appearance of a brown stain. Brown discoloration is reversible and preventable. To help aid in the removal of tooth surface stain, we recommend a tartar-control/whitening toothpaste, a power toothbrush, floss, and regular dental visits. Based on your experience, we do recommend you discontinue using this mouthwash, and ask that you hold onto it, in the event our team would like to collect it. So we can help you further, please give us a call at (800) 285-9139.
