I like Cuisinart products. They’re made well, durable, affordable, & easy to clean. I purchased several items over the past few years and I cherish them all! And I’ll keep purchasing.

This is my second one. I received a previous model as a gift. When that one was no longer serviceable, i decided to replace it with this updated model. It is a perfect size for the 2 of us. It has become one of my 'go to' pots.

Great pan. Makes large batch of soup. Can brown burger in the pan for chili.
A good choice for cooking chili and soups, too.

I had been looking for a large, reasonably-priced pot for cooking chili, soups, and the like, that could also be used in the oven. My search settled on manufacturers I was familiar with and whose products were well reviewed and that I may already have and have been happy with. I found this 5-quart Dutch oven and thought it would meet my needs. Does it ever! Because of its depth and shape, it heats evenly and efficiently. Its twin handles make it easy (and safe) to carry. It has a well-fitted cover, is weighty without being heavy, is easy to clean, and looks good in my kitchen. While I have cooked with other large pots, this one is by far the best one I have had for cooking up a chili or a soup. Someday, I may actually use it in the oven.

Dutch Oven - Ceramic vs Hard Anodized

I make a lot of soups. This pan is great for this. I own several Cuisinart hard anodized pans. I am happy with all of them. I switched out my pans for this type. These pans are light weight while achieving the same result. I can’t lift my ceramic dutch oven. I can use this pan just like the ceramic pan. I can brown and and simmer at the same time while not burning or drying out the meat. meat.
5 qt dutch oven with cover

The handles do get hot, use pot holders and there is no issue. If you have larger burners you will need to reduce your burners or the flames will go up the sides of the pan. I like the pan, but I was replacing a 7 quart one (since we are empty nesters) so I am also adjusting to the smaller size, especially for a batch of chili! The handles are comfortable, a big deal to me. The pan is attractive, but honestly most cuisinart products are. It is a solid pan and has been clutch for us in boiling our water for drinking water after the Marshall Fire. Might have gotten the larger size in retrospect, but that was a choice I made and is not a slam on the pan. I didn’t give five stars, because I almost never give them.

Overall it is a very good pot, the only downside to it are the metal handles on the pot as well as the cover. They really heat up!

Love the size and weight of the 5 quart Dutch oven but unfortunately scrapped the bottom with first usage. I was warned not to use metal to mix or stir but it happened so quickly I was surprised. Nevertheless it’s still the perfect size for stews and soups.

I have used it twice since my purchase, and it already has marks on the inside where the coating has worn off. I have only used a non stick spoon in it so this should not occur.

I moved into a small basement apartment in my daughters home and before deciding to add a small kitchen my original Cuisinart collection (and it was extensive) accidently was sent to Good Will. I cook on a hotplate and the 5qt Dutch Oven works perfectly for me and it's used several times a week. Wish I'd bought the complete collection.
