Q: I am a very sensitive asthmatic so wondered if there is a bad odor associated with the appliance when it heats up.
submitted by HappyGrammy - 4 years ago
A: The first time you use the Griddler® Elite it may have a slight odor and may smoke a bit. This is common to appliances with nonstick surfaces. I suspect with proper ventilation you would be ok, however, it is always best to understand the risks.

This was a replacement for a much older Griddler. Now that there is a LCD display, it is much more user friendly. Easy to clean. Love it...

What a convenient little griddle! I’ve only used it once. It was too cold to grill outside, (my preferred method of grilling) so I cooked hamburgers inside on the Griddler Elite. Instructions were easy to follow, and before I knew it, I had some deliciously grilled hamburgers inside! I followed the recommended cooking time, and they turned out a little more well done than we like. Next time I’ll cut the time back by a minute and see if that works. Cleaning up was easy. Just wiped the plates off and put them in the dishwasher, and I was done. Definitely recommend the Griddler Elite!

Pretty easy to use, non-stick, and easy to clean. Takes little effort to get it clean. This is the main reason our old one was replaced since it started sticking and was very hard to clean. Love that you can also open to use it flat for pancakes. I like that the temperature can be controlled for certain recipes.
It's a keeper.

Great for grilling burgers and perfect for paninis. So far has been working great but I noticed a small scratch on the grilling plate after cooking. Not sure it it will impact the non stick surface in the future. Because of that issue I'll give it four stars, otherwise it's been a great purchase.

Being digital makes it nicer than our previous one. Being able to control each plate individually is handy. The fact that the heating wires are not exposed is one of the reasons for getting the upgrade. Oil from cooking can't get on the heating wires and burn. Being able to set the distance between the plates for cooking is really nice. All and all this is a great product.

Very nice and useful unit! Pros: 1. Self-contained heating elements 2. Great for sandwiches, searing, and hundreds of other foods 3. Clear digital display. Cons: 1. Timer doesn’t turn unit off (may be a pro — jury still out) 2. Lid doesn’t self-level (thick sandwich presses on back more than front without fiddling with it)
Perfect addition

Wow! I wanted to use the Griddler Elite a few times prior to giving my review. The Griddler Elite replaced a Forman grill that never lived up to its hype. What a difference the Griddler Elite makes in my kitchen. It is easy to use right out of the box. The plates are heavy due to the heating element being inside. But they are easy to install, flip over and wash. They are dishwasher save ONLY in the top rack. In my dishwasher it makes it difficult to wash them in, if I can only use the top rack. Having said that, they are easy enough to wash in the sink. Grilled chicken debris came right off with a soft rag. Also, burger detritus came right off even after being left on overnight! The scraper that comes with also helps in the cleaning. I love that the drip tray snaps in the back of the unit making it secure. It comes out easily and washes right up. The drip tray works wonderfully when the unit is closed and also when the unit is open. This was a major complaint with the Forman. Being able to individually control each plate (upper and lower) is a game changer! The temperature gauge on the front lets me know when the plates are at temperature with a soft beep as well as being able to easily read it on the front of the unit in digital form. By the way, there is a built in timer on the front as well. The side support allows you to keep the top plate from squishing your grilled sandwiches. It raises easily to make sliders or panini sandwiches. Here there is a little finesse with the top plate but it is not difficult. The Griddler Elite opens easily to a flat position which allows you to use it as an open grill. With the plates being so easy to switch you can use the flat side or the grill side. Steak or pancakes! You decide. Clean up of the unit itself was a breeze! Having cooked sandwiches, sliders, chicken and more I can't believe how little (if at all) the outside area of the grill gets greasy or dirty. What little there was just wiped off with a clean towel. Again, this was a sticking point for the Forman for me. Having said all that, the Griddler Elite is well worth the money! I have only one small sticking point. The stationary handle JUST fits under my top cabinets on my countertop. I have to scoot the unit out a tiny bit to make sure I can open it fully. Otherwise this is a perfect addition to my kitchen!

I have owned this model for 6 yrs, and sill doing fine. It truly needs a longer cord, I place my unit on my glass stovetop, se Exhaust fins can capture all smoke. The grill plates clean up better if you spray a baking -nostick- on first. This is the best in the market
