Beautiful pictures however, it’s just random words thrown together. Would’ve loved a “hair love/empowerment” story to go along with the beautiful illustrations. Bought this as a gift but, unfortunately sending it back.

Not a story - its a visual poem

Beautiful illustrations and representation of Black and Brown people. However, it should be noted this is a visual poem and not a story. So if you’re looking to read something with a narrative, best to skip this one. I like it for the imagery but it’s not a read along as I hoped.

Really poorly written. This book has very little context and no story line. My 5yo read it from cover to cover in a couple of minutes and ran into the room to quickly tell me how bad it was.

First off it made me extra happy to buy a book for my daughter that actually had hair exactly like mine and hers. My 4 year old self is screaming. However it’s not a storybook, it’s more like a poem, a very short one. It wasn’t enough to keep my 3 year olds attention. She wanted to know the girls name in the book, which is not said anywhere. So I made up a whole story on my own, and used the book for pictures sake. The illustrations are beautiful and capture curly hair amazingly. Just wish there was a story to go with it

Beautiful illustrations but there’s only 1 or 2 words on each page. One page is the girl looking in the mirror and it says “Mirror. Me.”

Years, I grew up thinking I need to comb and brush my hair straight. It wasn't until my late twenties that I embraced the naturally curly and coily soft locks God blessed me with. When I saw this on your shelves in February, I knew it was the perfect Valentine's gift for my 2 year old niece! Beautifully illustrated and beautiful story for all kids with curly hair!
