The first couple spreads will be all too familiar to any caregiver: the little girl repeats "Daddy" louder and louder to try to get her father's attention, but soccer on TV is distracting him. When he steals away to the kitchen for a cookie, she offers to make him a sandwich, and he offhandedly says yes (maybe he is thinking she means a pretend sandwich). But while this sandwich does have bread on top and bottom, the middle is filled with all sorts of things Dad loves: butter, a block of stinky cheese, a whole tomato--and his cellphone, Mum's bubble bath ("he sits in there for ages"), his tool belt, etc. And the pièce de résistance? "More than anything, Daddy loves... // ME!" The book ends when Dad walks into the kitchen to view her final creation: "Daddy! Your sandwich is ready!" "When a little girl offers to make her distracted daddy a sandwich, readers will assume they know what's coming. She begins by adding butter, cheese, and tomatoes to crusty white bread, but before long, she's throwing in personal and household items that her dad loves, including his slippers, tool belt, TV remote, and cell phone. About the Author

Pip Jones is a London-based children's author, who is most often found either writing, staring at the contents of the fridge, or herding her two children. Pip's rhyming series about Squishy McFluff: The Invisible Cat! was inspired by her daughter, who discovered her own imaginary kitten as a toddler. This is Pip's forst picture book, and will be followed up with many more!
Laura Hughes is a children's illustrator and the artist behind Daddy's Sandwich, Wanted: The Chocolate Monster and a number of other children's books. Originally from Bath, Laura studied illustration at Kingston University and graduated in 2005. When not drawing, Laura loves to curate art exhibitions.
