Practical Tools a female tired of life-long "die"ting
I hate to admit it, but I have been on a "die"t since I was 11 years old... I was delighted to find Dear Food. This workbook is accessible and powerful. The author even has song recommendations to prepare for each section! I love the workbook style with spaces to journal and tender self-talk. I have had 5 abdominal surgeries, including C-sections, hernias, and other medical problems. It was hilarious to read someone who understands the sometimes life saving moment of passing gas. I have been as low as 135 pounds and as high as 230. It has been a journey and in the author's honest bio I found pieces of myself. The desires of the Lord for intimacy in this area of our lives is mapped out with excellence in Dear Food. I am so grateful for a resource like this in my own life, and for the future women I will share it with in our community.

Transparency and hope abound
Julia's brutal honesty about decades of food struggles and finding freedom and a happy, healthy relationship with it are refreshing. I'm now hoping to join a group to do the 10-week Bible study workbook and look forward to Workbook 2 when it is published.

This book is a game-changer!!!
This "Dear Food..." workbook was a game-changer for me! I had read every book and tried every diet known to man...but this workbook was a completely different book that what I had previously seen! The author Julia does an amazing job of guiding you through the food journey and looks at what God has to say about this journey! I totally recommend this workbook to anyone that is on this journey of developing a healthier relationship with food. I know you'll be so thankful you found this book!

Can't put it down!
Seriously, I can't put this book down. The humor is exceptional. I keep thinking how can she keep it up page after page. The moments where God shows up in such amazing ways in Julia's life brought me comfort knowing that God is real and hears our prayers. I bought 4 books and plan on giving away three to people I know who struggle with food. Another thing that I found while reading the book is that I could also relate the lessons to other areas of my life. I highly recommend you get this book. You won't regret it.

Couldn't put it down! Inspirational!
What a fabulous book! Julia uses humor and wise guidance anchored upon truth found in the Bible... Julia opens the dialogue and challenges us to seek God first through scripture and through meaningful activities she provides throughout her book and to ultimately ground our relationship with food in God's purpose and plan. A wonderful purchase!

Personal and Practical: Here is HOPE!
In this book, Julia shares her poignant past and with remarkable resilience, points readers to the Source of her strength. She gives HOPE, acknowledging the complexity of our relationship to food with faith-focused practical techniques to make strong progress in this typically tough and emotionally-charged area. Julia has helped me recognize the addictive nature of sugar, of listening to our bodies and creating "healthful" positive options rather than reaching for "easy" and comforting foods in times of sadness or joy, in loneliness or celebration. Her message is clear in this first workbook: turn to the One who will not shame or disappoint, reflect deeply on His promises, and speak truth. I am so grateful to be reminded that I am not alone.
