Design Toscano Desmond the Dragon Sculpture

He is a little smaller than I anticipated, but I love him. It was a pain having him delivered, the first package was lost and I had to reorder.

My boyfriend bought me this a couple years ago for outside, but I love it so much I keep it on display in the livingroom instead. It has such expressive eyes it’s almost as if it’s alive. I can’t speak for how it would hold up outside, but it is lighter than it looks, so I would not suggest a high wind location. If you’re a dragon lover like I am, you won’t regret it!

I was so worried it would be damaged in shipping. It was in a block of Styrofoam with a cut out that fit the dragon perfectly. I had to open both ends and push it out carefully which worked really well. Then lift 1/2 of the Styrofoam off. Not one bit of damage. I decided I liked him better down low than up high. He would be best against a light wall rather than lost on a dark one in my opinion. I am so happy I ordered another dragon the day after I got him.

I bought Desmond a couple of years ago. He's been inside during winters. Look look..the painful has chipped off in lots of places. Can he be repaired?

Super cute piece, but unfortunately the durability of Design Toscana's (DT's) outdoor statues has diminished over the years. This was bought to replace my other Desmond, which was bought a few years ago, and whose paint is now peeling off in multiple areas. I hope to use a sealer to help protect him this time. I have ordered from DT for MANY years and have many pieces for both inside and out, but I have noticed the quality of outdoor pieces over recent years has diminished and I hope that this is not a trend that continues, but rather is corrected because DT does have awesome looking pieces.

Great quality, decided to use acrylic paint to protect from the winters out here in the Interior of BC, and for it to become the "Red Dragon of Wales". Hopefully will not need to bring in over winter and see what happens to the statue.

I ordered Desmond the dragon to "oversee" our Medieval themed wedding. He was perched at the top of the trellis that we were married under; looking very wise and regal! I looked at many, many dragons to perform this task, and Desmond stood out to me. He was the one! He is absolutely gorgeous and beautifully detailed. Well worth the price. It seems that he is very popular as well, because I ordered him in May, but he was on back order, so I didn't get him until July. I'm not complaining, because I ordered him with plenty of time to spare before the wedding. We are very happy with our purchase, and we will definitely be buying more Toscano creations in the future.

We love him. Regal. We have him set up outside with a light on him so we can see him day and night. He looks like he is protecting our kingdom. We love the dragons made by Toscanini. We own three of them.

I just got my Desmond the Dragon today and he is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! He is beautifully detailed and looks awesome in my garden . love love love!!!! I will have to buy more of your dragons. If they are as gorgeous as he is, I will be very happy !

I am totally happy with all aspects of this product, great workmanship and details. It goes well with my collection of dragon sculptures. I would definitely buy another one if and when I had a place for it.

Bought this for my Mother because she is into dragons and she absolutely loved it. She scooped him up in her arms and took him to her den. If you know someone who likes dragons, this would make a great gift.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Desmond is smaller than I expected but has great detail. He has a small drop of gold paint on his neck which is not consistent with the rest of his coloring. That’s a mystery to me. He’s also a lot lighter than I expected.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Desmond is quite regal sitting atop a steamer trunk used as an end table. The details of this sculpture are amazing, it's easy to imagine him giving a shake of his head and a puff of smoke from his nostrils. Again, another beautiful Toscano item.

This dragon is exceptionally detailed. Wings, talons, and tail that wraps into his body are so intricate that this qualifies as an artistic treasure. Size is perfect for a small garden where you want the impact of visitors tors saying " why did I buy a rabbit or tortoise. Fabulously different. He won't disappoint. Only con: want him bigger in larger garden.

This is a really cute dragon but it's smaller than what I thought it was and it's overly lightweight. It's seems very fragile, one hit by anything and it's gonna break. I would not put this in an outdoor garden, I don't think it would hold up. It was well packaged and arrived in a timely manner. I am going to put it indoors in corner where it won't be bumped. Over all it's OK but I do wish it was sturdier.

I purchased this for my daughter's christmas present and I was very pleased with the quality and the super fast shipping. I have purchased from Toscano before and am never disappointed.

I already had one of these & had to order another. The picture in the catalog is good, but he's even better in person. I total recommend him to any dragon lover.
