Q: Are they compostable? Recyclable?

A: Hello, this is the customer response team at Georgia-Pacific. These plates are not compostable but, Dixie plates may be recycled when clean and dry. So, when deciding whether to recycle or toss, remember—if you ate a dry, mess-free meal like a quick sandwich and chips, just dust off those crumbs and dispose of the plate in the recycling bin. If you ate a messy, saucy meal that left grease stains on the plate, then dispose of it in the trash. Be sure to check acceptance with your local recycling program. Thank you.

They are more durable but the bottom of the plate was leaving grease on the table when we used it for a family pizza party. Also it left marks with other foods. They work and they are definitely more stable to hold they don’t bend. But they could be better.

I bought these plates fully wrapped and when I got home to use them there was this horrible taste and smell coming from the food. At first I thought maybe it was cleaning solution on the counter, then I honestly thought it’s my water, no. I made pancakes this morning and immediately started sniffing my food because I could taste that chemical smell. I knew this time I cleaned the counters with water after the solution yesterday so it wasn’t my counters this time. I smell the bottom of the not one, two, or three plates but four and all four of them had this harsh chemical smell coming from them.

I've been buying Dixi brand plates for years. I hate doing dishes as much as the next guy so i think its justified to buy paper plates. i couldn't care which type of dixie plate it is...if its dixie its gonna be good. We love the clear plates for parties like our wedding . I do tell friends to buy this brand.
