Story was neither good nor bad. What looked to be exciting moments in the original teaser turned out to be momentary scares that didn't go anywhere. There are a few 'naked' jokes that I considered unnecessary. Still, if you are a Doctor Who fan --especially of Eleven-- this is a must. Why? 1. It's a regeneration story that introduces a new Doctor (Peter Capaldi's Twelve) and 2. Matt delivers one classic goodbye speech. Seriously, if nothing else get it for the last few minutes. Have tissues handy. 3. Handles. I never thought a Cyberman could make me cry. God held me, this episode managed it.
The missing link in the Doctor Who story line.

This is the episode that bridges Season 7 (Matt Smith as Doctor Who) and Season 8 (Peter Capaldi as DW). In the recent years, these bridging episodes have been included with season collections. For some reason, this one was released as a stand alone DVD. So, if you watch Season 7 and Season 8 without "The Time of the Doctor", you will wonder what's going on.

The good? Matt Smith, Handles (the Cyberman head), the (in Tardis) regeneration speech. The bad? Juvenile and utterly unnecessary nudity teasing, Over-the-wall pre-regeneration speech campiness, barely seen images that were hyped on the trailer previews. Not much real action (or it felt that way.) After the fun that was the Anniversary Special, this felt like a letdown, notable for an interesting plot -idea-, but mostly for the sympathetic Handles (vies with Amy and Rory for tear-jerking companion goodbyes) and Matt's goodbye speech. Get it if you are a big fan of Matt Smith...or save your money for Day of the Doctor (sadly not yet for sell at Target.)
