Review Quotes
"Jacqueline Melgren has done it once again with her "Dog Picture Book: For Elderly with Dementia. Alzheimer's activities for Women and Men." I began purchasing these books for my grandmother who is suffering from Alzheimer's and is rapidly declining cognitively. She has always been an active and engaging reader, and when she slowly began stopping simply because it was too difficult to read the small print or just forgot to pick up the books she once loved, I started searching for options that could hold her attention and help her to remember the things that she once loved so very much. Jaqueline Melgren's books are beautifully put together. The photos are stunning and just the simple word placements truly make these books works of art for those who are starting to suffer from the ailments of Alzheimer's and Dementia. If you have a loved one in your life who is beginning to see mental slips due to these horrible diseases, these books truly are wonderful ways to inspire them to keep doing the things that they love, such as reading and enjoying art and photography! These books make excellent gifts, and really are perfect for anything who used to love reading and find themselves struggling to continue due to difficulties." - Amy K (Amazon)
"Jacqueline Melgren has put together amazing, high quality photographs of adorable dogs. What's not to love? But honestly, this book is a true resource for engaging with elderly folks or those with memory-loss or impairment. It's the perfect book because the pictures spark joy with little mental effort required. Even those who now struggle with reading can find enjoyment in this book. The photographs are engaging and do a great job of stimulating memories and promoting conversations. My husband's grandmother is 92 and lives in a nursing home. As her memory and motor functions have declined, challenges arise during our time together. She often forgets who we are, has trouble holding objects in her hands, and definitely can't piece together sentences to read anymore. When we showed her this book, she immediately lit up. She actually has an *imaginary* dog that she feeds cheerios everyone, so looking through these pictures really made her happy and inspired her to tell us about her dog. Each page features a different dog - there are 39 in total - and the name of the dog in big, easy-to-read letters. She was able to sound out the names she had forgotten, which when she said out loud refreshed her memory. It was nice to have this book as focal point for our time spent with her. She asked if she could keep it, but since it was on our Kindle, we promised to buy her the physical copy. Therefore, I do recommend the physical version since it is more accessible." - Alanna K. "A really great picture book for a price to match. This book is filled with a range of different dog breeds. The book features really high quality photography, along with the breed names. The picture book sparks joy, relaxes and can introduce topics of conversation! I hope others will enjoy it as much as I did." - Carrie-Beth (Amazon)
"Jacqueline Melgren has created a fantastic book for individuals with memory loss with this fun dog book. The pictures show a wide range of dogs in different parks including Poodle, German Shepherd, Bulldog, and Siberian Husky. The book identifies each breed on every page and with different coloring. Dog lovers will love this book as it will hopefully bring up good memories with their dogs." - Veronica (Amazon)
