Dry as a bone 2 days from expiration cake and frosting dropped off of one side because its soo dry and thin. Dumped in garbage and made one from scratch for the birthday.

i’ve purchased this cake twice in the past year and although it’s nothing gourmet, it’s definitely not awful! i think i may just be less nit-picky than others but my boyfriend and i have always thought it was good, we usually end up eating up pretty much half of the cake ourselves. it’s cute and does the job so if ur not interested in baking and you want to just grab a quick decent cake, this is the one!

I had the unfortunate experience of purchasing this cake from Target for my nephew's birthday (he requested red velvet), and it was an absolute disaster. This cake was not only dry, but it was completely inedible. I strongly recommend that Target consider removing this product from their shelves to spare others from this disappointment. The cake's appearance was promising, but that was the only positive aspect of this purchase. The moment we tried to cut into it, the cake crumbled apart as if it had been sitting out for days. The taste was equally dismal; it lacked any hint of moistness or flavor, which is unacceptable for a cake. Such a cake can ruin what should be a joyful occasion, and it's disheartening to see Target offer a product of such low quality. I hope others can be spared from this experience.

Frosting tasted great. It wasn’t very thick though. The actual cake was very dry and crumbly. Target birthday cakes are top tier delicious. This Red Velvet was no where near as good.

This cake looked really pretty, but when I when I tried it I realized it’s looks are deceiving. I wish I would’ve read the reviews before purchasing. It’s stale, dry, and so crumby. Not to mention, some parts of the cake have no middle layer of frosting. Really upset I paid almost $20 for this

I have never eaten a cake this dry before. It is definitely not worth its price tag. Very little cream cheese flavor in the frosting. The chocolate shaving are nice. Literally fell apart it was so dry.

Target used to have slices of red velvet cake that of a cake that had a layer of fudge and cream cheese icing in the middle between the cake layers. That cake was moist and delicious. That is not this cake. This cake is dry and tastes of food coloring. I would not recommend

Unlike many overly sweet red velvet cakes, this cake was actually true to the recepy and had a slightly tangy finish to it. Just as it should be! Velvety texture and not heavy cream. An absolute Yum!
