Q: will this help with vertigo

submitted by danni - 5 years ago
  • A: Danni, Thank you for contacting Dramamine! The All Day Less Drowsy tablets are indicated for treating motion sickness, not vertigo. Please follow up with your doctor on what to take to for vertigo.

  • A: Hi. This product can be used for cases of vertigo. The main ingredient in this version of Dramanine is meclizine hydrochloride. According to the Mayo Clinic: "Meclizine is used to prevent and control nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness. It is also used for vertigo (dizziness or lightheadedness) caused by ear problems." Every time I have seen a doctor for vertigo they have prescribed meclizine. If you are still unsure, check with a doctor, nurse practitioner, or pharmacist. If your vertigo is caused by a bacterial or viral infection, your healthcare professional may order additional treatments like antibiotics for a bacterial infection or a referral to an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) doctor or audiologist. For some cases of vertigo you can try the Epley maneuver.
