Been playing D&D since the 90's, and decided to take a break when 4th ed was released. This has a lot of new monsters as well as some old classics, but with the new rules implemented. Art work is top notch as always and the paper quality is IMO not as good as 3rd ed ( paper seems a bit thin and fragile to me at least). Very happy with this purchase.
So many possibilities

Well, you probably aren't reading this unless you already have the 5th Edition D&D Player's Handbook, or the starter set, so let's cut to the chase. What you have here is 350 pages of not only the classic monsters such as goblins and orcs, but also A to Z organized ideas for angels, beholders, chimeras, dragons, giants, lycanthropes, mind flayers, owlbears, sphinxes, troglodytes, yugoloths, and more. You also get more animals (giant octopus, giant scorpion, etc) and NPCs (knights, nobles, thugs, mages, etc). Oh, and the art is top notch (see the gnoll pictured on page 163). With this and the Player's Handbook there's really years worth of entertainment to be had, if you have the know how to use them. Highly recommended.
