The starter-thingies are hard to light, difficult to keep lit, and don't help ignite the firewood. And I'm saying this after maybe a dozen attempts at different times.
Not flammable

Have been using Firestart fire starters for close to 4 years. They do a good job in my wood stove starting off with large pieces of wood.

They are the perfect size to start a fire easily if your wood is dry and you don’t want to use a bigger fire starter log.

I have never used fire starters before, All my past experience is with crumpled newspaper. These little Oil & wax impregnated compressed sawdust bricks seem to light easily and burn with a hot steady flame.
What changed? Doesn't light.

I have used this product in the past with great success. The last box I bought is nearly impossible to light. I have tried loosening the paper as suggest in another review but no luck. I even tried crumpled paper around and under. The paper all burned leaving a bare block of starter. What changed? Did I get a bad batch? Fire starters shouldn't be difficult to light. I'm certainly not going to buy another box of these just to see if they are any better.

One starter log with wood will smoke a 2,500 sq. ft. house up to the point alarms are going off. Our chimney is clean and we have never had this problem with other starters. After about 10 minutes the smokes dies down and log begins to burn and ventilate correctly. Now my entire house smells like burned paper . Never again.

These days it's great when you get something thats plug and play. In this case you take the batteries and insert them into the two flimsy receptacles provided on the bottom. For 20$ it's a great buy. I don't know how fat it goes. Better ask.
no good

reduced size and increased price??? BAD COMBO. I have used these for years, but this year they are smaller in size, smaller amount in box, along with an increased price (in the same big box store as always) It actually extinguished before it lit the logs!!! I can not afford these any longer, I am retired and disabled and unable to print any "coupons" VERY DISAPPOINTED...BAD FOR BUSINESS...BAD FOR THE MADE IN AMERICA LOGO
