Q: It says both infant and for ages 2-3? Granted the only thing that matters is the content of the active ingredient presumably, but what's the deal with the inconsistency here?
A: Hi, thank you for your question about the Up & Up Infant Acetaminophen. This is the same labeling that was approved by the FDA for the brand name Tylenol. All acetaminophen liquid has to be the same concentration now in the United States. We would recommend asking your child’s healthcare provider what the appropriate dose would be for your child. If you would like additional information, please let us know and we would be happy to further assist you.
submitted bythe Supplier - 5 years agoBrand expertA: It's incredibly dangerous that this product is marketed to infants (traditionally understood as babies 12 months and under), but contains no dosage information for this age group. Acetaminophen is incredibly toxic if you give too much, and can damage a baby's liver. Parents who don't read the dosage information closely and just read "infant" and assume this is for babies will give their infant too high of a dose. I'm surprised there hasn't been a class action lawsuit about this yet. When I realized that this wasn't for infants, I did some googling, and there have been some recent studies showing some adverse affects when giving Tylenol to babies, so I'm guessing Target is trying to sidestep that by marketing this to age 2-3 instead. But they should change the labelling to say "Children's Tylenol." The current labeling is dangerous, and babies will get hurt.
submitted byEmma - 4 months agoA: There is literally a dosage chart in the back saying “ask a doctor” if your child is under the weight range of a 2-3 year old. You should be asking your dr anyway since they base most dosage off weight. My Pediatrician looked at the ml to mg ratio for this and confirmed its infant dosage and preceded to give me the correct amount for my baby. What WOULD be dangerous is giving a generic dosage for all babies under the age of 12 months instead of it directing you to get a dose from your pediatrician.
