Echrich changed their beef smoked sausage recipe and it tastes terrible. They also made it smaller, thinner and took off the natural casing. We own and operate over 650 restaurants in the USA and it is unanimous. Our customers hate Echrich beef smoked sausage, actually all of the heir sausages. It's ashame they never reach out to the consumer who buys and eats their products. They just use cheaper ingredients and ruin the products. They have been fired but 4-5 people and have lost millions due to someone's ignorant idea to change. So sad

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I don’t find in my store the one Sliced, but bought the regular one, and this is amazing! I did it with fried onions and is sooooo good! The texture, the flavor… was perfect.

The smoked sausage has a chemical aftertaste now. What did you do to the recipe.
1 reply from Consumer Affairs team - 8 months ago
Thank you for your review. The flavor you described is not what you should expect from Eckrich Sausage, and we're sorry you had this experience with our product. We haven't made any recent changes to our formula, and we would love the opportunity to make things right. We hope you consider giving our product another try.

I used this for over 30 years and never had an issue. At first I thought maybe it got freezer burnt, second time maybe a bad batch but this is the third purchase and cook and it tastes like bleach in it. Please do something about this!!

Please change the recipe back to the one before the packaging details changed. This new recipe is unbearable to eat almost as if i’m eating chemicals.

Eckrich has been my go-to sausage for the past couple of years. Within the last several months, every sausage I've tried has had an odd Chlorine-like taste. Very unlike the wonderfuly tasteful product I've cooked and fed to my family historically. This odd taste is not a one time exception - we've tried 3 different sausages from Eckrich in the past 3 months and they've all tasted "off". I did not prepare these sausages in any different way than I did previously. Though it disappointments me, I guess I'll be going back to Hillshire Farms. Do yourself a favor and avoid Eckrich products. Something is very, very wrong here

I've bought this product for as long as I can remember and always liked it. Bought it today and it was absolutely disgusting. Whatever they have added is foul and ruined the dinner I made! I'll be looking for a different brand now!

Will never buy again. My family and I have been eating these for as long as I can remember. Recently saw new packaging but figured it was just a packaging facelift or smaller portion due to inflation. Whatever you've added spice or chemical it tastes horrible and none of our attempts to cover up the foul taste have worked - my kids refuse to eat the sausage meals they loved for so long. Even my wife and I are unable to stomach it and have had to trash all 4 of the meals we tried to incorporate these into. If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it. Go back to the good recipe - my wallet will do the rest of my speaking for my household.

The "Original" was made with pork turkey and beef....which we can't find anywhere. This is now made with pork and chicken....which tastes like and unwashed foot. We took all (5) back to the store for a refund and can't seem to find the real "original" anywhere. What's up Eckrich??/

For over a decade I have used this sausage to make sausage rolls. They are delicious. But the last two batches I have made with this sausage have been inedible. It literally tastes like rotten meat. I can't even swallow it. I haven't changed anything in the way I make the rolls. Same bread, same sausage, same pan, same oven, same temperature, same cook time. The meat is awful. No one in my family can eat it. I will be finding a different meat source.

I have eaten this sausage and only this brand for years, I mean probably 40 years. I purchased 2 packages 3 weeks ago at a local store and upon fixing it found the taste to be terrible. I thought it was me. I went to fix the second one and the same bad taste. So I assumed it was from a power outage in the area and these were just not caught at the store. So I purchased 2 more at another grocery and fixed it last night, I thought I was going to puke. What is the deal have you changed your recipe by chance? what is the likelihood of me getting the same batch at different stores? that was possibly all bad? has there been are recall I havent seen? it smells fine, but has an awful after taste.thanks for any info

Same here. Have been buying this for many years and this stuff is awful. I sent a email out to them and they said it was a change in the mustard seasoning. Don’t taste like a mustard taste to me. Anyway was told it would be back like it was in the future. They need to pull all of it off the shelf. I have wasted a couple recipes that had a lot of money invested in them that we couldn’t eat.
Tasted weird.

I have been buying eckrich sausage for years and have never had issues until today. We bought the skinless sausage package said just warm up/fully cooked. It tasted horrible. Tasted like plastic or rubber not sure what the taste was. My sister had also mentioned this few weeks back that the taste was bad thought maybe it was just a bad batch she had bought and she went back and returned to grocery store. It was the same product. We both grew up eating this product and were still buying for our families but now we are not so sure.

We have been buying the skinless smoked sausage for many years, and have always loved it. Now, like many of the recent reviewers before me, we have noticed that the sausage has a strong chemical flavor in the last two packages we purchased. The last package was purchased 2 days ago and cooked today. Incredibly disappointing and inedible. Please fix the issue!
