The only con that I have found in this product is that the cards can be bent or damaged easily. I wonder if they can be laminated!!??? The children in my classroom like the counting card set most of all!

Thanks for the review, Genia - we're glad your students are loving Hot Dots Jr. We do not recommend laminating the cards, however, as the pen will be unable to read the correct "dots."

The Hot Dots numbers & counting are a great mid-level intro to numbers and counting. This set is great for children who have a basic grasp of counting and can identify at least a few numbers visually. My son began using this set when he could visually identify numbers 1-5 and verbally count up to 15. I think that, unless you are an extremely patient parent, if you tried to introduce these cards to a child with no number knowledge you'd just get a very frustrated child. Ace, the Talking, Teaching Dog Pen doesn't come with the set, but can be purchased separately, and is very fun for the kids...sometimes too fun. Occasionally, when my son doesn't feel like doing anything he'll just press all the wrong answers because he thinks the incorrect sounds are funny. *I was sent this product at no cost to myself, in order to provide a review of it on my blog, Oh So Savvy Mom.
