Este libro aborda la vida y obra de Sergio Pitol durante los años de 1963 a 1988. La investigación está sustentada en el archivo personal del escritor -que se conserva en la Universidad de Princeton-, el archivo de Relaciones Exteriores, testimonios orales, referencias bibliográficas y hemerográficas. La metodología que seguimos es resultado de una conjunción entre sociología literaria, historia y análisis literario. Los años que aborda este volumen son los del viaje y las estancias en el extranjero; los del aprendizaje creativo, de la escritura de todos sus cuentos y gran parte de sus novelas, y de la traducción de autores hasta entonces desconocidos para el público de lengua española. Pitol se convirtió en uno de los autores más originales e innovadores de la tradición literaria mexicana y este libro explica su recorrido.

About the Author

Alejandro Lámbarry es profesor-investigador en el Departamento de Filosofía y Letras de la Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla. Es autor del libro de ensayos Las ruinas de Babel. Escritores extranjeros en México, las biografías Jorge Ibargüengoitia: un escritor entre ruinas y Augusto Monterroso, en busca del dinosaurio, y el libro de crítica literaria El otro radical. La voz animal en la literatura hispanoamericana. Obtuvo el Premio Bellas Artes de Ensayo Literario Malcolm Lowry en 2023.
