A: Stoneware will chip and break but they are durable for everyday use if handled properly.

Q: Will the use of stainless steel flatware leave marks on the plate and bowl surfaces?

A: They will leave marks if force is used but you should be able to wash them off. The plates are glazed and sealed.

Sturdy set. I’ve just opened it and all pieces look great. No chips, etc. I am thankful to have found an affordable set this nice and that the four pieces in each setting don’t include a mug! Love the two bowls, two plates combo.

Dishes were exactly as described, have a good heft to them and were well-packaged to withstand transport during the Christmas madness. Looking forward to having this innovative design grace my table. The soup bowl is deep! You might need a bigger spoon.
