Celebrate Hanukah on Sesame Street, and spin the dreidel with Elmo and friends!
What's a dreidel? Elmo wants to know! He finds out as he celebrates the first night of Hanukkah with a friend's family. He watches Gil, Susie, and their parents light the menorah and joins in as they sing Hanukkah songs. After supper he learns to play dreidel, the traditional Hanukkah spin-the-top game. And, at the end of the evening, Elmo gets his first Hanukkah gift-his very own little dreidel! This sturdy board book introduces toddlers to the traditions of the Jewish Festival of Lights and even teaches them how to play dreidel themselves!About The Author
Naomi Kleinberg is a children's book editor and the author of many children's books. She lives in New York City in an apartment so filled with books that there's barely enough room for her family. By odd coincidence, her favorite foods--apples, avocados, and arugula--all begin with the letter A. Christopher Moroney has illustrated many Sesame Street books, including the popular Sesame Beginnings series.Dimensions (Overall): 7.05 Inches (H) x 6.38 Inches (W) x .27 Inches (D)

I was very excited to give my little Elmo-loving son this book along with an Elmo plush for his First Hanukkah. However, when we read it, it wasn't what we'd expected it would be. It's the story of Elmo going to visit Gil and his Family for their Hanukkah celebration and Elmo learns how to play dreidel. It's basic albeit not quite what I'd hoped - calling them chocolate coins and potato pancakes and not Gelt and Latkes - but it does provide correct rules for playing and I do appreciate that. That all being said, it's nice to have a Hanukkah book with Elmo in it.

This was a good introduction to the Hanukah holiday. My son loves all things Elmo, so this was a wise purchase.
