Q: Is the horizontal brace/the foot bar in the way? Do you have to lift up the chair to put two of the legs on the inside of the bar, in order to sit down and work? I have a chair with a pedestal which cannot perform this function.

Q: Does this desk have a "finished" back? In other words, is it presentable in a small office setting with two guest chairs opposite the desk chair without any uncovered seams / screw holes visible, or should this be placed against a wall?

A: Thank you for your interest in this desk. The lower bar is recommended to be installed in the middle for support and stability. Any modifications made to the desk will void the warranty. The bar does make for a great foot rest though! Have a great day!

Lovely piece, easy to assemble. As others have said, looks much more expensive than it is. My only complaint is that the wood chips easily. It already had several dings in it when received.

This is so nice you would never guess this came from Target for so cheap!! I've seen this desk on a few other furniture sites and was thrilled to find it on Target.com for about $60 less! Prompt shipping and it goes together very easy all tools needed are included. Drawers slide very smoothly and it looks as great if not better in person.

I needed a desk for a small area and it fits perfect. I have also seen this desk advertised at a chain furniture store at over $300.00 on sale with the regular price advertised at $620.00. It was very easy to put together and Is pretty sturdy.

I really like the look, design and size of this desk. Looked at other small industrial type desks but needed drawers. Only reason for not giving 5 stars is that it’s more of a lighter gunmetal gray color than it appeared online. Wish the metal was darker.

This is a very nice looking desk, and assembly is super easy. The trick is to tighten all the screws at the very end. I did, however, see that there was an extra screw set (small) included in the bag of hardware, which confused me because the directions stated that there would be 8 (not 9) screw sets for the legs to attach to the desk. The design is really cute, but I was concerned about the soldering/welding/brazing (I'm not sure which) that holds some of the metal together (and thus the table together); if the soldering/welding/brazing pieces are broken, it could collapse the desk, which could potentially break the items on the desk. I'm wondering if a handyman could use the same metal types and solder/weld/braze it more sturdy on the undercarriage (for peace of mind), which would make this a much sturdier desk. The wood top is really nice looking, though it came pretty dusty with some minor smudges (not scratches) that I'm sure could be buffed up later. It is unclear how to clean this desk properly, and the white styrofoam gets everywhere before and after assembly! Although a very nice-looking started desk, I could only give it 3 stars for the reasons above. I decided to keep it for 6 months to see how it works for me before I have to move.

Needed a desk that would fit in the bedroom. It’s perfect! I like the unique design. So easy to put together, (20 min.tops)I don’t understand the complaints of others because the wood top is secured to the metal which had the 4 screw holes. I was expecting a bronze color but it is more gun metal in color which matches my bedroom furniture nicer anyway. My photos also look more bronze in color. Just realize if bronze is what you must have it will be more gray in color but may blend well with what you have as well. The bar spanning between the 4 legs runs right through the midline so pushing a chair in all the way requires lifting they chair legs over that rail. Mine was on sale which made the value much better for me. Saw the same desk at other online stores for twice that price.
Broken and hazardous. Do not recommend.

Awful. This product arrived damaged with exposed nails all over the face of one of the drawers. I called the manufacturer and they had to send me a new drawer twice because the first replacement they sent was also broken. My advice is to save the money. This desk looks good and is easy to put together, but it is not worth the $250.

Assembly was easy but the 4 screws in the corners of what was already assembled underneath the desk are stripped. And by stripped I mean the "wood" won't hold the screws in and they come apart from the desk and aren't really attached.

I was looking for a desk to use in a condo on the beach and knew I wanted something that reminded me of a Southern plantation and this fit the bill perfectly. Took me no time to put together and it is a beautifully functional piece.
