Q: Does this come with the power cord as well or is it just the coaster itself?

Summary of reviews
The Ember mug and its charging coaster offer a unique solution for keeping beverages warm, making them a favorite among guests who appreciate hot drinks throughout the day. However, many guests have expressed concerns about the durability of the charging coaster, particularly the pins that often fail after a few months of use. Despite these issues, the mug itself is praised for its functionality and design, making it a worthwhile investment for coffee lovers.

The second coaster has broken. I love the mug, but the repeated coaster failures make it hard to recommend this product. After barely a year of use, the pin failed to bounce back for charging. I use this mug five days a week for work, but the coaster isn’t waterproof or durable. This is my second failed coaster, and now I have to buy another one just to keep using my mug.

Chargers don't hold up. I've had three go bad, and they're stupid expensive. Hopefully my tumbler hasn't gone bad, too - to be determined...

Very poor design, pins are not water proof, will corrode eventually or just break, requiring difficult soldering. No idea why they haven't updated this design yet.
Love it, but hope for more options!

I received my mug for a Christmas present and love it. I bought the sliding lid and an extra charging coaster. I wish there was a charger that I could plug into a USB outlet rather than electrical outlets. I have tons of USB options at work. Also, I would love it if the temperature maximum was 150 degrees. I understand if the maximum was determined for safety reasons. However, I like my beverages at 150-155 degrees.

My wife and I both have ember mugs. We have already replaced one charging coaster and now have to replace the second. We have only had the mugs one year.
Charging Coaster Failures

I have had to purchase two replacement charging coasters for my Ember Mug. I love it, but the pins on the charging base always fail over time. Ember needs to offer an annual subscription for new Charging Coasters, because you'll need a new one each year, from my experience.

How to fix those coaster contact pins

We love our Ember mugs and use them daily. But we too have discovered that over time the coaster contact pins will freeze in the recessed position. Upon closer inspection I could see a faint white ring of calcium scale around each pin. I suspect that this may be the problem others are experiencing especially if they have any degree of hard water. But there is an easy solution that will restore those contact pins to their original condition. A small drop of vinegar on each pin will dissolve the calcium. After leaving the vinegar in place for a half hour or more, the pins will usually spring back to life. In some cases, pressing the pins gently with a ballpoint pen while they are soaking will work the vinegar down into the pin holes. After the pins are back in position, dry off the coaster thoroughly, and add a small drop of MTC oil to each pin (a very light weight, non-toxic, culinary oil). This seems to prevent the scale from reattaching to the pins as quickly. We've found that there is no need to replace the coasters, that this procedure works well and consistently restores the contact pins to there original condition.
Purchased in April, pin recessed coaster fail.

In April of this year, I purchased 2 14oz Ember Mug 2, and a travel mug. The Ember Mug 2 bases have a pin recessed so it will not charge the mug anymore. It didn’t even last 1 year, holy smokes. I cannot in good faith recommend this product.

I was given the Ember cup as a gift . I was excited to get as is a coffee drinker and moves around with my coffee cup. It worked perfectly well for about a month and never heated neither has the light connected . I tried getting it returned for a working one but was never successful. I still have it like a souvenir as it doesn’t work.

They need to fix the springs under the electric leads. When they break the charger becomes inoperable.

I use the mug twice a day. Have used Ember for years. No charger has ever lasted more than a year.
