bra measuring guide

Use the tips & visuals in this guide to take body measurements accurately & easily.

Don't have a fabric tape measure? Use a shoelace or a pant leg to measure. Then, lay it flat & use a ruler or tape measure to get a numerical measurement.

How to measure

  • Find your band size

Wearing your best fitting bra, measure your underbust. Wrap tape measure around chest just under your bust (under bra band), make sure the tape is snug & level across your back.

    • If your underbust measurement is an odd number, add 5 to get your band size.

    • If your underbust measurement is an even number, add 4 to get your band size.

    • Example: Underbust of 29" (odd number)+5 = 34" Band Size

    • Example: Underbust of 30" (even number)+4 = 34" Band Size

  • Find your cup size

Measure your bust by wrapping tape measure around the fullest part of your bust.Be sure the tape is snug & level across your back.

(Bust measurement)-(Band size) = (Cup size)

    Example:(Bust of 35)-(Band of 32) = 3(C Cup)

Bra sizes (band size + cup size)

32A 34A 36A 38A 40A 42A 44A 46A 48A

        30DDD 32DDD 34DDD 36DDD 38DDD

Fit issues

Fit tip: 90% of your support should come from your band, which should be snug & level across your back.

  • Straps slip

Tighten straps until they sit smoothly aganist the skin.

If you tighten the straps fully & don't feel supported, your band may be too loose.

  • Straps dig in

Loosen straps until they sit smoothly against the skin .

If you loosen the straps & don't feel supported, your band may be too loose.

  • Side overflow

If band fits comfortably, go up a cup size. or try a different bra style.

Example: If you usually wear a 32B, try a 32C.

  • Cup overflow

If band fits comfortably, go up a cup size,

Example: If you usually wear a 32B, try a 32C.

  • Wire sits on breasts

Band is too loose. Take your measurements following the directions in this guide. Or, if the cup size is accurate, try a sister size down from your current size.

See sister size chart for more info.

  • Cups Gape

If band fits comfortably, tighten straps. if that doesn't help, try going down a cup size.

Example: If you usually wear a 34B, try a 34A.

  • Band digs in

Your band size is too small. Try going up a band size, and down a cup size

Example: If you usually wear a 34C, try a 36B.

  • Band rides up

Your band size is too big. Go down a band size, and up a cup size

Example: If you usually wear a 34C, try a 32D.

Sister sizes

A "sister size" is an alternate size in which the cup size stays the same, even though the band size & cup letter change.

To find your sister size, locate your usual size on the chart below. To sister size down, select the size underneath. To sister size up, select the size above.

Example: if your size is 34C, the sister size down is 32D, & the sister size up is 36B.

Q: Has anyone washed them and they popped and was oily? I wear them a lot and washed them n then I Tried them on and it for on my brand new dress! I hope it comes out

submitted by Jennat130 - 5 years ago
  • A: I had one pop while on a ride at Disney. :( Totally wasn't something I ever considered as I wore them every day for a few years before that happened. Stained my bra and tshirt. Never came out.

submitted byAbust - 5 years ago
  • A: I've been using these for years. Sewn (on edges) into my bras. Hand washing them I've never had a problem. (knock on wood)

submitted byapril - 4 years ago
  • A: Hi Jennat130, Thanks for asking a question! It's really important that you HAND WASH this product. The Water Wear Push-Up Pads are filled with a water/oil mixture, incased in fabric that should be quite durable. For reference: Hand wash the pads with a mild soap and warm water. Allow the pads to air dry completely before wearing. Thanks, Lilly @FashionFormsOfficial

Q: Hello! Can I wear these in the water? I would like to wear under my bathing suit top.

submitted by Alexis - 5 years ago
  • A: In their other answers, Fashion Forms has stated that these should NOT be worn in water. So the real answer is that you can wear these in a bathing suit if you don't plan on using your bathing suit as a bathing suit.

submitted byTina - 3 years ago
  • A: Yes, these work great in bathing suits, and can be worn in the water!

Q: i wear a cup bras , i purched a set of your ab pads and they are greawt . what imm wondering is how will a c cup pad fit in my bras ...thanx for your time EARL

submitted by big earl - 1 year ago
  • A: It may be too large to fit in your bra but could possibly fit in a swimsuit.

    submitted bymcbrv77 - 1 year ago

Q: how do i know wich one to purchase ?

submitted by big earl - 1 year ago
  • A: It depends on how much extra padding you want. I usually order closest to my cup size.

    submitted bymcbrv77 - 1 year ago

submitted by Amanda - 2 years ago

    submitted bymcbrv77 - 2 years ago

Q: Has the leaking been fixed? I had them over 10 years ago and they were great.

Q: Do these set off an alarm at airport security checkpoints

submitted by Maverick - 3 years ago
  • A: I have taken these through security at the airport more than once and have never had an issue.

Q: I am very flat chested after having mastectomy, would these help me at all? If so would I just order smallest size?

submitted by Debbie - 4 years ago
  • A: Thanks for the question! These water pads will give you the most comfortable, form-shaping experience in enhancement. These fit into the cup of your favorite push-up bra. So if your bra is a B cup, I would recommend size A/B for a smaller enhancement, or B/C if you would like something larger.

Sticks out of every bra and bathing suit, making it super obvious that you’re wearing them. I tried 2 bikini tops and one bra, all different sizes and shapes, and the push-up pads were sticking halfway out of all three tops. Don’t get it unless you wear huge bras.

I like that they really do add boost to what I hardly have! However they move ALOT in the bra which was very inconvenient and I ended up removing them pretty fast.

    BAD TO SEW INTO CLOTHING

    1 out of 5 stars
BrideinDistress - 7 months ago, Verified purchaser
I gave these to my seamstress for her to sew them into my wedding dress and she called me saying they are leaking oil. I should've read the reviews before purchasing. If you need them to sew into clothing, DO NOT get these. If you are not planning to poke any holes in them, they might work but I can't guarantee.

Had them for several months. Inexpensive and work great. I use one on the side I don’t have a prosthetic to give me a boost or on my mastectomy side when I’m just lounging around the house in a bralette.

I have used these for several years now and lost count. The previous pair I had after years of use deflated over time so I have purchased another two pairs. I can not comment on wearing them for swimming as I have not done so. Great for virtually any event where I have needed a little extra. When they deflated I saw nothing leaking from the water they claim to be made with. They were dry so I can not comment on what happened except that after years of usage they finally wore out so to speak.

    Pretty good

YogaGirl - 11 months ago, Verified purchaser
It feels kinda of weird and it doesn’t hold against my skin. If the bra you’re wearing is really tight it will most likely work, but not if there’s too much room, then they just slip around. But they were still decent and don’t cost too much.

Allergic reaction to substance used to fill pad

    Spring123 - 2 years ago
One pad popped and leaked all over my bra, I didn’t realize until the end of the day and ended up with a horrible allergy rash all over my right breast and into my arm pit. Whatever oil is used to fill the pad I am obviously allergic to. I was under the impression that these were filled with water and therefor never considered an allergic reaction in the event it leaked. But based on the oiliness of my skin after the leak it definitely is not water. Very disappointing.

I bought a set of these probably 10 years ago and they are great. I saw that they were still available and decided to buy a new pair. They are NOT the same! The second time I wore them, one leaked. They are definitely not filled with water, they are filled with some kind of oil, which ruined my bra and gave me a rash! I see now that there are several reviews stating the same thing!

Second time using these, they’re filled with an oily substance that leaked out and ruined my shirt and bra. Because it was oil, it didn’t feel wet or anything, so I didn’t notice it until it was too late. Super embarrassing.

Back in the summer of 2020, I purchased a pair of push up pads from another retailer. I used them to add lift to my bathing suit. The previous push up pads were twice the price as Fashion Form. Listen…..for less than 10.00 bucks, these are worth every penny and more! I’m 61 years old and yes, my D cups aren’t perky in my swimming suit without a little help, lol! But thanks to FASHION FORM- I feel like a gorgeous Goddess!!!! Thanks Target!
