Q: My alarm went off just now with a little Red light.. there is no smoke or fire or candle.. could it mean it needs a battery.. it didn’t beep it was an alarm sound

I purchased 4 of these. Easy to install, but one of them goes off EVERY TIME IT RAINS heavy. Apparently, this new technology can get smoke particles and water particles confused. Reached out to First alert for a replacement and they sent me a 12 step process…no thank you. I’d save your packaging until the first heavy rain incase you need to return to Target. They have much better customer service.

This is a replacement for the First Alert Smoke Detectors we've had for almost 10 years. The old ones are still working, but the 10 years is almost up. Great smoke detectors and easy to install.
I love it batteries only for 10 years you can't get much better than that

I love these these are great you just put them on the wall and you know I have to worry about wires it’s battery operated S excellent I recommend them to everybody my advice keep them. I love them so it’s easy to remove when you need to when it’s time for that time to remove it and replace it makes it a lot easier.

such a waste does not last 10 years and there is no way the change/charge battery! you are better off buying any other smoke alarm. very annoying and disappointing 100% would not recommend

Last night the random, 3 chirps in a row, kept waking us up. It takes a few times to figure out which smoke detector is alarming, and it's usually the last one you've checked. We installed this 10 year smoke detector on 6/20/2021. Wrote the date on the back. But because I didn't save my receipt, too bad. No warranty coverage. I was really hoping to not have to change the battery, but better to buy one where that's possible.

I bought two of these detectors, glad that I wouldn't have to worry about changing batteries for 10-ish years. But after a year, both started chirping at random times, not when I'm cooking or doing anything that would cause smoke. If I take them off of the wall they will stop, but they don't belong on the table. Waste of money.

Just woke up to the smoke alarm going off, no other alarms are going off and we have checked the whole house. This is now our 2nd 10 year alarm we’ve had in 4 years, different brands.

This smoke detector is easy to install. It took my husband a couple of minutes to put it up on the ceiling. The instructions are easy to follow. It is working according to the directions. I hope that we don't have to ever use it.

Given the name of this product, I expected it to last for 10 years. Unfortunately, after barely over a year both of the detectors I purchased started beeping three times every 40 seconds, which means that the product is "end of life" and needs to be replaced. Do not waste your money, unless you want to be woken up at 3:00am by a product letting you know that it is garbage 9 years ahead of schedule.

Bought 4 of these 3 years ago. 1 of them started chirping today indicating low battery. It is now 1 a.m. and the 2nd one has been chirping on and off since 11 p.m. Cannot turn the chirping off and I am about to go crazy with the noise.

I was sold by the 10 year battery. No more chirping to change the battery, or so I thought. One year and four months since I've installed them and all three are chirping indicating low battery. Definitely disappointed and will not be purchasing again.

Very easy to install and activate battery. Have had for two weeks and this morning it chirped 3 times, maybe a self test will check first alert web site. Great price and nice not to have to worry about changing batteries every 6 months. As fo longivity time will tell.
