Description
To minimize damage or injury in the event of a fire, the first step is having the right fire extinguisher on hand. The HOME1 Fire Extinguisher is ideal for use in any household location and is UL rated 1-A: 10-B:C for fighting wood, paper, trash, plastics, gasoline, oil, and electrical-equipment fires. The commercial-grade metal valve and trigger ensure it's ready to use in an emergency. Once used, it can be recharged by a certified professional. It also includes a mounting bracket to keep the unit secure and within reach and is U.S. Coast Guard-approved for marine use when used with the bracket.

When it is time to recharge your device, hire a trained professional to make sure your extinguisher is safe and gets recharged with the correct chemical extinguishing agent.

Which means if used, take it to your local fire/ safety store for recharging. The indicator dial should be checked periodically (monthly or at least quarterly) and the unit should be turned upside down so the powder doesn't compact as it settles, rendering it useless.

Q: Do you have to cut the white plastic safety ring or does it come off when you pull the pin?

A: None of the photos on this model show a plastic ring, but it should work after pulling the pin and squeezing the trigger. Anything else that may be in the way of using it should break off easily. A visual inspection can be done at the store or soon after purchase, to check for obvious defects.

Hold the extinguisher with the nozzle pointing away from you and release the locking mechanism. Aim low. Point the extinguisher at the base of the fire. Squeeze the lever slowly and evenly. Sweep the nozzle from side-to-side.

Q: If this fire extinguisher is used on a stainless steel electricity ignited closed burner gas stovetop would the powder from the fire extinguisher damage the stove top or closed burners?

Overall, I think this would be a very effective extinguisher for smaller places, fireplaces, or as a backup on an opposing side of a business, from their standard extinguisher. It's important to discuss the features and your own needs with your local fire extinguisher service to ensure you have a maintenance schedule for testing and keep up with it!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Every home needs at least one First Alert rechargeable home fire extinguisher. We have 3 in our home. The directions are clear and easy to follow. The extinguisher can be recharged after it’s used. It does have a gage showing when it needs recharged or if it’s been overcharged. It comes with a tag to keep track of the date purchased and monthly inspections. It’s filled with WY monoammonium phosphate dry chemical. I received the product from Influenster for my honest opinion. First Alert is a brand that I trust.

It has a slim profile and fits very well under my kitchen cabinet even though I store a lot down there. The dial is easy to read so you can see when it needs to be recharged. And even though I did not have to actually discharge the foam it appears very easy to use and uncomplicated.

Mine is located at the garage by the door, so whenever is needed is there and easily accessible. I have not needed to use it and will upgrade my evaluation if needed. As of now I recommend it.

It came delivered perfectly filled, and has a nice indicator showing when the product has been used and needs to be recharged, or is overfilled. The bottle itself also seems very sturdy and that it could not accidentally discharge or break if dropped. There is also a safety seal to stop the accidental unintended use of the fire extinguisher. I am just setting mine underneath my kitchen sink, but it is convenient that it also comes with the ability to mount the fire extinguisher on the wall for easy access. The thing that I like about this fire extinguisher as opposed to other fire extinguishers is that it can be recharged and is not just a one time use product.
