It's Senior Year at the Horribilorum Sorcery Academy for Witty Witches and Wizards. All the hard work and studying culminate in this: the final exam! Guided by the Headmaster, players have mastered handling volatile ingredients to concoct fantastical potions. In Potion Explosion 2nd Edition, players embody students aiming to pass their year-end final exam. They craft potions by extracting marbles from a new plastic dispenser, symbolizing ingredients for various potion recipes. When a marble is removed, the remaining ones slide down the ramp. If two marbles of the same color touch, an explosion occurs, allowing the player to collect those marbles as well. More explosions lead to more marbles and quicker potion-making, with each completed potion granting a unique ability when consumed. The player with the most points at the game's conclusion is named head of the class and graduates with the highest honors. As the bell rings, students find their seats at the Horribilorum Sorcery Academy for Witty Witches and Wizards. Returning students notice the venerable buildings have been upgraded since last term. Indeed, it's an opportune time to learn new potions. Players select their ingredients (encased in round, glass spheres) from the dispenser, anticipating 'explosions' when identical ingredients meet, enabling them to gather each from that cluster. They utilize these ingredients, like Ogre Mucus, Dragon Smoke, and Unicorn Tears, to score points in their potions. Each potion also possesses a distinct effect that a player can activate (by imbibing it, naturally) once the potion is complete.
