i remember when i first saw this book and read the description of it and immediately bought the set on sight. it’s beautiful, terrifying, and heart wrenching. i read the entire book in one day; i couldn’t put it down. this children were starved and kept in an attic for years where they saw the grandmother once a day and their mother even less. they struggled to stay alive: weak, skinny, beautiful and porcelain. their mother and grandmother were wicked people. abusing them, starving them, locking Cathy, Chris, Carrie, and Cory in the attic of a gorgeous mansion. it’s dark, but beautiful. it holds the tell of a forbidden love and the hardships of having all that money can buy ... with the exception of freedom. of the outside.
