This roll has the standard rough surface on one side, and a smoother surface on the other. White areas along one edge make writing on the bags with a sharpie easier. I have a hard time cutting straight across- guidelines printed every 2" or so on the bags would help. I love vacuum sealing food for the freezer!

I have been using my food saver for years. It is a godsend. Food stays fresh in the freezer for a very long time wirh no freezer burn. We stick with the Food Saver brand bags because of their quality and economical cost.

The 11 x 12' rolls really are handy. You can make your storage bags to whatever size is appropriate. They last in the freezer it seems like forever, sturdy and taut.

11 in is the perfect size for storing fresh meats. When I shop, I'll take my package of boneless skinless chicken breasts and individually vacuum pack them and freeze them. I do the same with buying a pound and a half for 2 lb of chopped sirloin and I will divide that into maybe four meals this way I can simply defrost what I'm going to use the rest stays vacuum sealed and Frozen fresh from the store
